Unconventional Delay Pedals

came in here to recommend the mtl asm jaywalking, see someone finally got to it. the fx loop is much different from most delay fx loops. instead of the effect in the loop only applying to the repeats, on the jaywalking, each repeat gets processed again and again by the effect in the loop. for instance, fuzz in the loop = 1st repeat fuzzed once, 2nd repeat fuzzed twice, 3rd repeat fuzzed three times, etc etc etc.

i love mine, and it was $100.

I still find my MG Music Space City Echo to be very unconventional.

Especially with the MG9000 controller.

While they are expensive when bought new they occasionally turn up used at a decent price.

GB24-->HUGE Verb-->HUGER FUZZ

Mine is set at kind of a throbby, warpy, medium decay, aliens on salvia kind of thing. I've taken pictures of other settings but I'm too afraid to lose this one.

Even though the GB24 can do delay stuff it's really hard for me to consider it that, just because it can get into outer space territory so quickly. But it's a beast of a sound utility belt. Seriously....sooo many good things.

The Boss micro rack delays are super badass. RPS-10 is like the Rainbow Machine, but with more sounds. You can control the pitch with audio. The RSD-10 is a sampling delay, you can trigger your sample and control the pitch with audio. What's funny is the manual tells you to use a cassette tape with pre recorded tones to send to pitch control inputs. There's also the RPD-10(panning delay), but it doesn't get nutty like the other two. It does sound fabulous though. Digital delays from the 80's are so badass. If you're into filthy digital, you need the micro rack delays.

I had the Moog MF-104z and I go like this every time I'm reminded that I sold it. The MF-104m is next on my shortlist. You can get them used for $500. Still spendy, but its so worth it if you're going to use the CV jacks and the fx insert. Plus that moogerfooger drive on the repeats

At the risk of sounding like a total fanboy I think the GB24 is one pedal that anyone could reasonably justify having more than one. Imagine 3 in series...the horror...

The Digi Timebender is the best unsung hero of the bunch.

5 sec of time, which comes in handy because in every mode but reverse, you can hit the on/off footswitch to trigger a useful hold mode that's like the EHX freeze only, well, a lot more options. This includes using it for harmonized or oscillating freeze.

Also you've got multi-head options that are tap-tempoable, plus the usual subdivisions, true stereo fun, and the different delays actually act like what they claim -speeding up the delay time acts differently for a digital delay, analog faux delay, or fake plex the head moves right, fake Space Echo the tape speeds up/down, etc.

It's a sound fun device beyond delay.

Hmm... Trigger like a PDS? Can it be manipulated like the PDS?

No trigger, but you can do far more than the RDS (the big boy rack version) except there's not a discrete LFO but the rest is far far more evil.

I bloody love the boss DD-X pedals. So, so good.

My 2 cents: The mooer repeater (I think - the green one) has a weird time knob which is stepped, and oscillations never go above unity gain, so you can actually make fucked up beats with it. F' real.
