Ungar 9000 soldering station

Post by ryan summit »

the hardware store across the street
has a couple soldering stations in the window
i dont know much about these things
i do know miost people use weller
but the one here i think is an m101?
theres no temp adjustment
and they want $150 for it
the ungar is $90
anyone ever use one of these
i guess they were bought by weller
and you can still get parts for it
and it just looks freakin cool
how important is temp control?

im movin into a new place
with a workshop and actual bench
all ideas ate helpful
even "screw both of those, get a_____"
thanks for the help

Are you looking to start an antique soldering iron collection? Hakko FX888D is about $100 new and beats the shit out of any Weller I've used. It's no METCAL, but it's a lot cheaper.
