I definitely want one of those drives. Andy's demo is pretty sick, but I always want whatever he is demoing when Queens are played.

I pre-ordered the Drive from Sweetwater.
According to the guy that called me he said they should get their shipment in about 2-3 weeks.
SIDE NOTE: It was my first time ordering from Sweetwater and I have to say I really dig that place (I don't know if it's owned by some giant company or whatever) but I had a great experience. I got an actual phone call from a rep, who let me know about the shipping delay and then asked if I had any questions about it and that he got to play the pedals so I talked to this dude for like 20 minutes about the minifoogers and moog and he was definitely just like talking to one of you guys here, it was way better than anytime I ever had to call guitar center and they don't even know what I'm asking for.

Exactly the same experience here. Those guys are really cool and actually know what they're talking about, unlike the majority of people in retail.Helter wrote:I pre-ordered the Drive from Sweetwater.

Sweetwater is fucking backed. Almost everything new I've bought since 10th grade has been from them. My dude is also a big Moog enthusiast and have shot the shit for hours at a time about gear.jmoote wrote:Exactly the same experience here. They are definitely big on the customer service stuff. I've only ever bought from them once, but I know some folks who swear by them.jamesmikelly wrote:Sweetwater is fucking backed. I'd rather they just send the stuff and the catalog and keep the touchy feelie to themselves, it's weird seeing my rep in the catalog lookin all goofy...

What is the price of the drive?
Made me think a bit of Fairfield's Four Eyes, but Four Eyes is a fuzz.

It made me think of the Four Eyes as well. That was one of the first fuzz pedals I ever bought and Fairfield Circuitry were probably my first and favourite 'boutique' company after Dr. Scientist (Canadians, eh?). I still have the Four Eyes but don't use it as much as I used to because I found it a little too aggressive. It was hard to reign in. The Mini Moog Drive (I think it's around $200) seems a lot more manageable. The filter control has a more comfortable sweep to it. The Four Eyes can go from insanely piercing highs to indistinguishable low-end. The Moog has this as well, but it appears to have less aggression to the notes. I don't know how the pedal is designed inside, but the Four Eyes is a crossover distortion like the Iron Ether QF2 and I don't really hear that with the Moog.

Re: Moog MiniFoogers!??!?!?!? Lookin true Ya'll
just tried them all - kinda meh...
personally, i felt the negatives outweighed the positives
the positives:
the ring mod is super rich and sounds beautiful
the basic delay tone is similarly lovely
the drive is pretty cool
the boost is very nice and simple
the negatives:
no volume control on the delay so big boost when engaged with the internal drive
no modulation on the ring mod!
expression input on the boost controls the gain, not the volume which is slightly a bummer
drive no can haz actual resonance control, only peak switch

Looking at them in a glance that's also what I thought, I haven't tried them yet though.
No resonance on the Drive is really a bummer for me, judging from the demo's the filter doesn't sound very extreme or synthlike at all, it mostly seems to sound like a wah with a little bigger range.
The ring mod not having modulation doesn't really matter that much to me, the bigger Moogerfooger only has quite boring sine and square wave modulation anyway so it's not that big a downgrade, you could stick an external LFO generator in the MF Ring and get even more variety out of it than with the big box I guess, if I'd be in the market for a ring mod I'd definitely be interested in it.
