So I haven't really been here in a while and have no idea what I was thinking, I miss this place! Had some personal problems this summer that caused me to lose interest in playing but I'm more motivated then ever now. So after buying pedal after pedal, I decided to treat myself to a new guitar
Didn't find a lot about this model as it is fairly new but I found a lightly used Gibson SG Future Tribute for $650 shipped on eBay. Black wasn't my first color choice but I can't complain about it. Steinberger Gearless Tuners look pretty dope. Overall I've just wanted an SG since I started playing and now I'll finally have one! Going to get it set up for B or A and just doom out.
Now to finally finish wiring my big board and get a non-wimpy amp
holy smokes thats gorgeous a stripped down black sg is just sexiest whoa no actual tuning pegs you know how many times i bang the 3rd like every time i put my shit down looked at pics on the website could take some gettin used to looks wise but the benefit....
I'm not sure on the finish really I think it might be semi-glossy, I'll let you all know when I can examine it in person.
Yeah the no tuning pegs will take some getting used to but I heard the tuners themselves were great. I think I prefer the look of having pegs but I'm not too caught up in it
Looks killer. Noticed these on the site the other day actually. Be curious to hear how you like the 57's in person. I just snagged an SG Standard with 57's in it, and I love em. My favorite current Gibson humbucker by far. I like that they're a bit lower gain. They sound a shade brighter and more articulate and alive to my ears. But I'm a low gain kinda dude.

That sounds kind of like what I'm look for. I have plenty of high gain fuzz for lots of output so I'm really just looking for a bright, lower to moderate output pickup with good definition and clarity. I'll be sure to post my impressions
The 57s are hands down my fave Gibson humbucker for the exact reasons kosta detailed. Had 'em in a '68RI LP Custom and they were soooooo much better than the 498 and 490 they usually throw in Customs.

Nah, I just ended up swapping those '57s with some Bare Knuckles eventually. Wanted some series/parallel wiring options and enough output to make 'me sound good when switching between settings. BKPs rule pretty hard. Got some Flat 50s for a Tele recently too, HUGE Broadcaster tones but still sound like singles only a little meaner at the bridge.
Oh good, that Custom is one of the sweetest LP's I've ever seen. Saw Spiritualized play last weekend, and the lead guitar player was playing a 3PU Custom in that Pelham Blue (or maybe it was a faded Inverness? Hard to tell in the club lighting...) Such a badass stick.
