Full sound in a one guitar band?

Post by OddKnowledge »

I recently started a 2-person band (drums and guitar) and I'm trying to think of ways to fill up the sound without a bassist. I'm not really trying to be more heavy, just ... not thin and airy. Any suggestions?

2 pedalboards, 2 amps, second amp EQ'd for lows/bass speakers/etc.
That's what I do :thumb:

Jokes aside, attention to arrangement is your most powerful weapon in filling out a small ensemble.

You could go Gay witch Abortion with lots of noise:

Or Indian Handcrafts with simple lines and heavy fuzz and octavers:

Or just run everything through a thousand watts and bass cabs ala Black Cobra:

awesome signature with witty quotes from all you fuckers :)

We're seriously nitpicking every nuance of every song right now before looking to play out.

Use multiple cabs! I use a 1x10, 1x12 and 1x15, and it really fills out well. Strategic positioning helps, though (twss?)

Just to clarify, were you TWSSing "really fills out well" or "Strategic positioning" or both?

Stereo! Seriously, me and the drummer were filling time while waiting for the bassist, so I used my amp and his in a stereo setup and bloody balls it embiggened everything.

dangrxfields got the same setup
drums and guitar
stereo amps is key
ive got a guitar rig
and one for low end
for a while i did reverb on one
and none on the other
but ive been detuning one with ps5 lately
and reverb everything
that just broadens it so much
mess around with pitch shifters
the ps6 is awesome or the hr's sound like they be good
somethin to split the signal
and give different dynamics to each channel
two delays or a stereo in/out delay
dual band stereo delay will make you sound like a 4 peice
different dirt on each channel(mas importante)
else it kinda mucks together
ive tried the looping basslines thing
eh
two different delays sounds cooler
besides someone here pointed out the lameness of looping bass
like"just get a bassist already"
fuck around enough
and youll start to hear voices in there too

acchem...did i say ps6...ok .just making sure
