You could use the pan knobs and have two tracks for the "guitar" side and two tracks for the "bass" side without a splitter... They're fun times for sure...

I have been wanting the middleman boost so bad these last few days!!! Please tell me it's as awesome as the videos make it out to be. Would you be able to compare the mid boost to, say, a tubescreamer? I need more MIDS, the Middleman is at THE TOP of my list. I just haven't heard enough about it or GH to pull the trigger yet. Well made? Good parts?

I sold my Tubescreamer so I could buy this. In my honest opinion (which is always correct), the Middle Man is the way to go for boost.

I can tell you right now Greenhouse Effects are incredible. Excane has tried most (or all) of 'em and I'm sure he'll agree they're well built with solid parts. I'd love to try 'em all out, but I really want the Goldrive, Sludgehammer, and Retro Sky.

I haven't tried either of them myself. I watched the awesome demo from Reggie Watts (awesome name) and was totally wowed, but that's it. I know they're popular on HCFX.

I know this is not directed at me, and Josh Pelican has replied already, but I tried a bunch of Roy's pedals when I was visiting Israel where he is based and I can say the Middle Man isn't as akin to a tubescreamer as you would anticipate. A tubescreamer is smooth, thin and slightly honky. The Middle Man is chunky, thick, bold, and dry. The midrange frequency you can cut or boost, to me at least, is more in the low-midrange rather than the hi-midrange. That might not be accurate, but it adds a looser, more natural (think vintage Marshall) feel to the sound than a tubescreamer does, and usually that's what low-midrange does to a distorted signal. It's also a cleaner pedal than an 808. I see it as more of a treble booster/rangemaster but with a midrange (I think it's around 500hz) boost rather than a treble boost. It has that thick, vintage, burliness that the Sparkle Motion has.

Fucking killer. Thanks for the info and input, guys. In always slightly hesitant on pedals with sweet graphics but no specific specifications or gut shots, etc posted. Glad to hear its worth picking up. Demos sound great. I use a Sparkle Motion with my Sound City 100 but need something really mid thick for my Sunn.

A tubescreamer is not 'mid-thick' in my opinion. It's a thin, cutting sound and doesn't add much thickness. The Middle Man adds thickness without the mush or flub.

Yep. TS has a hefty bass cut and a bit of a treble roll off, which is perceived as a mid hump.

I've never liked tubescreamers for that reason. It never made sense to me why anyone would use one when you have pedals and amps with a flatter, cleaner EQ—though maybe that's all they had in the 80's. It is one of the most recognizable dirt tones. It works for modern metal styles, I guess, but I'd still rather use the onboard gain of a good amp.

I think a lot of people do use the onboard gain of a good amp...and then a tubescreamer to goose it.
