So I know you were talking about a custom made cab, but what is it going to be? Tell him to put a lot of thought into handles and wheels, and see if it can be less awkward than your average Sunn cab. It looks like it will be SWEET!

A lot of the divorce stuff also depends on the age of the kids. My parents divorced when I was 1 and I've seen my dad maybe 3 or 4 times after that (I'm 39) but I have no memory of what he even looks like. There are times where it bugs me that I didn't have a dad but it wasn't that big of a deal. My mom remarried years later and when she divorced my step-dad, my brother and sister were 11 and 12 and it devastated them. They're just about 30 and still fucked up from it. It was a really nasty divorce, a lot of both parents using the kids to get back at each other. I ended up taking care of my brother for a few years while I was in college and I tried to take my sister too but she was too angry at her dad especially so she was a runaway for a couple of years. I'm a high school teacher and divorces at that age just seem to be either really terrible or almost no issue at all depending on how the parents handle it and how much of a shock it is to the kids. I went through a weird divorce but it was totally mutual and I was relieved that someone else wanted to take her crazy ass off my hands, but thankfully we had no kids (one of the major issues with the divorce, I never want kids). I've also known a lot of folks that were much happier and better parents after a divorce which seems to be a more modern thing. They can raise some really well adjusted kids.

I took my parents' divorce in my stride. I actually was glad to get away from my father and his constant abuse of my mother, and their subsequent rowing and tension. It also occurred around the same time of my last years at school, so I had a lot of my plate as it was. I was just glad to see my mum rid herself of him. We all needed to get away. He's since cleaned up his act, but my younger sister actually hates him as a result of his constant ignorance to his families' needs and his past history. I stopped loving my father years ago, but I don't hate him. He's become a better person since we left him, but in my mind he has a long way to go before regaining my trust and affection. I always try to respect him and show him care because that's what I believe is right, but my sister doesn't even bother sometimes, and I can totally see why. My baby sister (she's 8 now) loves my dad. She grew up in a completely different environment than we did, and I'm so glad of that. Despite my grievances with my father, he's trying. She won't have to see my mother and father fighting day-in, day-out. She only knows my father's good side, which is great. I would say ignorance is bliss, but I'm trying to be respectful of him. He deserves a second... or fiftieth chance.

The drive pedal interests me in particular, but I doubt I'll be getting one. There are so many pedals I want, but I've decided to only get what I need, and right now that's just a tap-tempo delay. I have everything else I need and more. I'm going to focus on investing in another guitar, a new PC, and then maybe one of the next generation gaming consoles—once I've paid for the Dunwich, that is.

well, shit, i finally stumbled on some good luck. i don't know if you guys remember monolith cabs, but it was a portland company that did some custom cabs, and mostly fancy high quality boutique reproductions of old sunn cabs, and some of their own designs. dude also made some pedals. i know skip had a couple. anyway, through a weird work situation, i was offered two brand new never used unloaded monolith cabs that have been taking up space in someone's woodshop. for free. just to help get them out of the way. one is their replica of the old sunn ported 4x12 and one is a 2x15 and 2x10 in one enclosure bass cab. fucking awesome. i imagine the bass cab will be for sale soon. pretty big windfall for a broke asshole like myself.

Gear gods are smiling on you and I both. I sold my HOG yesterday and picked up an Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe. Got a hundred bucks left over out of the deal to put towards pressing some vinyl. I guess I can let the cat out of the bag now. On top of putting out a split 7" of my band and my friends from Philly in Repellers, I'll be putting out Shroud Eater's Dead Ends album on vinyl. Should be out in January.

I had a Xeropgrah Deluxe for a month or so. It's incredibly loud... like, destroy your speakers-loud. Be careful with it. I know your cabs and amps can handle it, but your ears might not appreciate the sudden bursts of extreme sound. I found it too difficult to dial in for guitar. It was either too extreme or too subtle. I also had a few other issues with it that I can't remember now. It's probably been over a year since I had it. I like filter and auto-wah type effects, but the only one I want is the Subdecay Prometheus Dlx. I think you'll like the Iron Ether. They make amazing pedals.

Congrats!!!! I loved everything from Monolith that i've had it just really sucks that wade flaked out. If I didn't live three thousand some odd miles to your east I'd take that 2x15 2x10 cab off your hands in a heartbeat for a synth cab.

Yes more good news!!! I recently got my vinyl player back up and running so please let me know as soon as both of these are available. And if Shroud Eater needs help booking a DC show let me know and I'll get them in touch with some peeps, and will most definitely attend.

It is very possible that there is a Philly date since the guys we are doing the split with are from there. If there is one I'll talk to Jon and see if I can get you guys on it. It would be cool to play shows with you guys in here.

The simms watts started making some wierd noises last night, like wind buffeting and very loud. Looking at the tubes it seems one of the el34's is shorting as it lights up in sync with the noises. So I am looking at retubeing it.
Whats the Doom Room consensus on the best el34s to use? I like clean headroom and low end.
