well, shit, i finally stumbled on some good luck. i don't know if you guys remember monolith cabs, but it was a portland company that did some custom cabs, and mostly fancy high quality boutique reproductions of old sunn cabs, and some of their own designs. dude also made some pedals. i know skip had a couple. anyway, through a weird work situation, i was offered two brand new never used unloaded monolith cabs that have been taking up space in someone's woodshop. for free. just to help get them out of the way. one is their replica of the old sunn ported 4x12 and one is a 2x15 and 2x10 in one enclosure bass cab. fucking awesome. i imagine the bass cab will be for sale soon. pretty big windfall for a broke asshole like myself.

Gear gods are smiling on you and I both. I sold my HOG yesterday and picked up an Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe. Got a hundred bucks left over out of the deal to put towards pressing some vinyl. I guess I can let the cat out of the bag now. On top of putting out a split 7" of my band and my friends from Philly in Repellers, I'll be putting out Shroud Eater's Dead Ends album on vinyl. Should be out in January.

Fucking awesome man. I was digging their stuff hard when you guys turned me onto it. Glad to hear they can press some vinyl now; these community support stories give me the doom warm and fuzzies.

I also love my Xerograph DLX! It's not the first thing I turn on, but it does a whole lot more than simple envelope filters. You could always set it to a really fast, subtle envelope for an interesting "always on" sound. Dat fucking etched finish though!
Good Deal List: bearbeams, pena_55, sonidero, greyscales, ChetMagongalo, xchristophex, Monkey Boy, krautrocker, osbornkt

Saw Pallbearer tonight with Saint Vitus.

Saint Vitus was alright.

Pallbearer on the other hand was fucking awesome. Lead guitarist used a Black Forest a bit. Through an SG. Running into a thunderverb (I think). Other guitarist running a tele into an old Univox PA head. Bassist used a Way Huge Green Rhino into an Acoustic 470 and Fender Bassman 300.

Most surprising effect
....
Lead guitarist used a Boss ME50B for all his lead parts. Sounded very thick, creamy. All sorts of delay on that mother.

Lots of other pedals but I didn't get a good look at most. Other two dudes had Pharaoahs. Not sure if they really used them much though.

Yes. Anubis, (depicted in the picture), was the god of embalming and the dead. Since jackals were often seen in cemeteries, the ancient Egyptians believed that Anubis watched over the dead. Anubis was the god who helped to embalm Osiris after he was killed by Seth. Thus, Anubis was the god who watched over the process of mummifying people when they died. Priests often wore a mask of Anubis during mummification ceremonies. This is him looking at a take-out menu. You can see the hamburger over his nose.

So I know you were talking about a custom made cab, but what is it going to be? Tell him to put a lot of thought into handles and wheels, and see if it can be less awkward than your average Sunn cab. It looks like it will be SWEET!

Yeah, Shroud Eater rules. Been jamming their shit pretty hard for a while now. Can't wait for this vinyl to come out. They are gonna be touring for it in Feb up the east coast.

Do you use your Xerograph with an expression pedal? I'm looking to mainly run it for big long filter sweeps. Kinda like a more synth like phaser in a way. That is the intended purpose but after watching Kayzer's video of it, I'm sure I'll end up with a different use for it.

Congrats!!!! I loved everything from Monolith that i've had it just really sucks that wade flaked out. If I didn't live three thousand some odd miles to your east I'd take that 2x15 2x10 cab off your hands in a heartbeat for a synth cab.

Yes more good news!!! :yay: I recently got my vinyl player back up and running so please let me know as soon as both of these are available. And if Shroud Eater needs help booking a DC show let me know and I'll get them in touch with some peeps, and will most definitely attend.

Will do man! We may also be running up the East coast at the end of January. I haven't gotten the route yet, but Jon from Repellers is supposed to be getting that to me this week so we can start trying to set it all up. They'll be out for a week and asked us to hop on as many dates as we could.
