Ok so my board is based around the Jamman because I use it a lot, the problem with the Jamman is that it clips like a bitch all the time. Any time it gets a little volume it distorts and its a really digital distortion pretty gross. As such I run a stereo board sort of...
I play kind of like a surfy Ty Segall/The Drums thing so huge gaze tones aren't really needed I need snap and stuff. I start off with the AD4096 which splits into two lines, one goes to the Jamman and then straight out to the RRR. That's like a clean line and I can adjust volume on the Jamman so it doesn't clip and then boost it with the RRR so it sounds right with the other line. The other side of the AD4096 goes through demo tape fuzz then super hard on then belle epoch then Spring chicken. I mainly use the plates on the RRR and the spring chicken with the dwell about midway. The AD4096, RRR and Spring Chicken are always on and the reverb on my Fender Twin is about 6 or 7, so it's always pretty wet. I use the demo tape fuzz as my dirt and boost that with the super hard on when I need the volume boost.

So yeah unfortunately with the Jamman, my hands are tied for most things but this way it often sounds like I'm playing a bunch of guitars at once both looped and through stereo lines that are using non synced time based effects, it's pretty cool

hmm, i'm really curious as to the issues you're having with the jamman as i was thinking about buying one.

Hm. Why not a ditto? Great sound quality. Small enclosure. Do you need something to save loops? Was told about Jamman quality problems (reliability and sound) several times.

I fixed my PM7 again, it was the dc jack again.
tuner - Elements - RRR - y-splitter - A) Big Spider - PM7 B) Blowing Up - TAFM
From there, A or B can be run into the tape deck for looping. The deck's in the effects loop of the mixer, so I can finally still hear myself while the loops are being recorded or played back. loop loop loop loop loop.
The left tape deck sounds like a fuzz and gets super ultra loud, so the EQ drone machine runs into that to give it a little more character. The motor also handles loopy tapes differently than the other deck so I'll eventually have to make some slightly different cassettes 'cause it just chews them up as is.
Blowing Up the TAFM is cool because it becomes the poor man's Fuck-crackle. cracklefuck.

i dont necessarily need to save loops but i want to be able to have two different loops assigned to their own footswitch (ideally). want to be able to recorded a multi-layered loop then switch to another that i can record a multi layered loop on and then be able to switch to loop A after.

does that make sense?

Don't know if the Jamman can do that. The Boss RCs can't. You have to save the recorded loops to be able to recall them after switching to another one. Which means you have to press a tiny button with your fingers -> useless for live looping. That's why I ended up with a ditto. For live looping it is as useable as an RC (one loop with overdubs). But it sounds much better and is smaller. I also like the button better than the Boss/Digitech style ones. Just more accurate.

If you have the money get a Pigtronix Infinity Looper. That can do just what you want and even more.

Edit: RCs even have to stop the loop while saving...

Yeah Jamman can do that but you have to hit the save button. Theres a guy on ebay that sells a little button thing you put on and you can hit it with your foot then you can switch up and down between loops and they're saved. Otherwise you'll need a Boomerang, a massive boss rc (like an rc-50) or the Infinity maybe the big ehx one. If you want the loops to be different lengths you can do it with all of these two.
I've tried pretty much every looper and to be honest none of them are very good. What I would like is the ability to save loops, since I like to jump straight from one loop into a chorus loop without having to play it first, an on and an off switch. The Ditto that could save with separate start and stop buttons is my ideal looper. The main reason for this is the analogue dry through, your guitar always stays the same only the loop volume changes. With any of the other loopers you have multiple volume controls (loop and instrument) and they always clip and sound terrible to me. The jamman isn't necessarily bad I found it sounds better when it clips than the boss rc-50. The ditto sucked for me because of that double tap off, when youre playing and you need a quick stop of the loop it just gets tricky. Still waiting for a solid looper for guitarists, the ditto is a great start though

I know what you mean. There's no ideal looping pedal yet. Actually should try looping with ableton live. But then there is the problem how to record a signal that went through pedals and amp properly...

I'm going to mirror these thoughts. Although the Infinity and the Ditto are the 'best' loopers on the market for their respective tasks, they're still flawed and won't suit every musician. We need loopers more than we need another fucking dirt pedal. I know it's an incredibly challenging and expensive task to design and build a fully-featured looper, but it's possible. The Ditto Looper needs a bigger brother, something simple but that extinguishes all the inherent faults with the original miniature one. I use my Ditto all the time, but it's annoying sometimes. For a pedal I use all the time this is quite frustrating. The footswitch seems to be faulty already as well, which is common with TC's crappy footswitches.

Yep, I've been going through that as well, it's been an endless cycle for the past two years now

RC20XL clipped, DL8 you have to hold down the whole time to record, Ditto is nice but with the amount of dirt that I use just doesn't work on guitar for me, Infinity was the closest I've gotten to being happy but again the dirt issue, DL4 rules but I've gotta fix the volume drop and wish it had two channels, DD7 rules with dirt but again I wish it was two channels (honestly the best that I've found to do 8-10 overdubs with a fuzz AND a distortion on at the same time).

I'm getting my hopes up a little bit about the new Digitech Jamman Solo XT guy that's coming out for $99 that you can sync multiple units with, hopefully they've fixed/increased the headroom, but again I guess I wont get my hopes up until I try one
