whoa link?Mudfuzz wrote:sonidero wrote:Yes and yes... They all had a card that said how many wraps were on each and came with different bar magnets to add...cool there you go it's about a 10 minute job to do that, I've done it with normal strat pickups once cuz Seymour Duncan said in his VG collum you could make a filtertron out of two strat pickups the result sounded pretty good.

Re: Did I dream up this pickup
Wasn't the prail but on the topic didn't they come out with different versions.
It might've been that. Listened to it and not for me. Did read the Dirty Harry Humbucking description and it is described as what I was looking to find.
Can't find much media on the Rio Grande pups operative. The BG strat p90s sound great. If a strat is the same length as the humbuckers I may go with that.
Gotta do some reading. Thanks for that suggestion. Anyone have any demos of homemade HBs? I'm so curious.

Re: Did I dream up this pickup
Yeah I gotta get some clips of the humbucker I made out of two strat pickups. It's awesome and I never would have expected it
I took the two strat pickups and glued them flat side to flat side with super glue, then I made two metal pieces for each side and connected the pickups to each of the pieces with the original pickup screw holes, then I drilled a hole in the middle of each of the metal pieces for the new HB sized mounting.
It's got this awesome amount of clarity and output to it which just rules

What's you use? Was any routing necessary?
I'm not surprised you did this. If anyone did this, it'd be you. So tight.

Some of Matt Bellamy's Manson guitars have two P90s routed practically on top of each other

That's interesting. It may be unpopular opinion but I wish he used that sweet guitar to make music I'd enjoy. The pad on the guitar is genius.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier!Bellyheart wrote:What's you use? Was any routing necessary?

No routing necessary, was a bit of a tight fit but it sits in there just fine. Those larger pole pieces RULE for clarity. It's like the punch of a humbucker, with the clarity of a Jazzmaster pickup or something stupid awesome like that
