The idea is a 2 knob boost.
Knob 1 is Volume, Knob 2 is mid accentuation. Mid knob will balance even at 5, <5 will give more hi mid boost, >5 will attain more low end boost.
Along with those knobs, I am thinking 4 mini toggles(bass, low mid, hi mid, treble). All toggles on and you have a standard all-range boost, then you also have each as an individual boost if you toggle the other 3 off.
Basically Im hoping I can come up with something that is like an EH LPB-1, Rangemaster, EH Mole, and Demeter MB-2B all in one as well as the added plus of separation.

I like the idea of this :snax:

Would love for there to be an amp kit to build an amp somewhere between 5w and 20w which is a stripped down Matamp. Just acouple of knobs to keep it extra simple. Imagine a single channel Dunwich Doom Train where the only channel is the Matamp one. Would be so much fun to build something like that, and I'd be great fun for some bedroon droning.

The smaller amps just don't have the low end and volume to sound as satisfying. Obviously they won't have the kind of volume as the big amp but when that's taken out of the equation, you quickly realize how much of that tone is just pure volume and the physical impact it has on you. That's one of the issue with recording guitars, when you take volume out of the equation, people often realize how thin their tone really is. I had a Matamp C7 for years and it was cool because it could run on a single EL34 or KT88 or 6L6 (I hate small amps that only run on 6v6's or EL84's) so the low end was pretty full but eventually I sold it because it just wasn't really satisfying. I've never found a small amp that really satisfies my big amp in a smaller sound package. Thankfully I've got a house now with a detached music room so I mainly practice through 100 watt amps both there and at my band's studio.

The reason people need 100w is because the other guitar in the band has 100w. And because a lot of PA systems in shitty clubs sound terrible or the soundman is a Metallica fan.

I own the doom train, When I pair it with 2 12 inch v30s and 2 15 inch delta pros it shakes the whole house at half volume no problem, plenty of lows.
I make guitars and stuff, check it out at...

Shaking the house at not even half volume is a Dunwich thing from what I've found. :thumb:

I don't NEED 100 watts, But I like having a combined 300+ at my disposal. I control all aspects of my sound.
More power = more control, especially when it comes to low end. It is a fact that lower frequencys take more power to increase perceived loudness.

Sure I could use a 20 watt modeling amp and play our music but ughh... just :barf:

I dont use all of it. My amps are not dimed. They are set to their sweet spots and to be approximately as loud as each other. Having multiple cabs set up across the stage also eliminates monitoring issues for our drummer and bassist. They can hear me just fine without any monitors whatsoever. our bassist runs two amps and It's nice to have one of his cabs on my side of the stage so I can hear him just fine as well. Sound guys have been fearfull when they see what we are loading in but have unanimously said what an easy thing it was to get us sounding good afterwards. Really we have taken the PA out of the equation and we have not played anything so big that we would need it. we're at a total of 900 watts for a three piece band. I wouldn't change a thing. Maybe add more

Im gonna try and get Verellen to build a Fender 400ps clone with an MS pre.

I figure...if i'm gonna be obsessed with tube amps...I might as well only get ones that are dual purpose right?
