Recommend-me-do a simple drum machine

Post by Snufkino »

Y'know, so I can go drum machine-->fuzz-->amp-->ears-->brain-->dance/"play" guitar. Baring in mind I know nothing of drum machines, live in the UK and prefer something cheap and readily available, you wonderful people.

I've had quite a few and have to say for the price a Korg Electribe ER to be the best for under $200. If you can get the MKII one with the metal plate that one is the better of the 2 they made also. The sequencer and interface is a breeze to work with, sounds really good, synthesizes drums so you can really tweak them like no tomorrow and it has 2 inputs you can run a guitar or whatever into it and perfectly control a gate on it. And the you can add effects bpmed to your guitar. It sounds great too and works very well with Devi Ever pedals. I use a bunch on mine and they work real good with them especially the Manglers!

At Toys R Us, I found a really cool Spongebob one that I proceeded to buy and bend the crap out of it. It' was actually pretty damn good.

I live for these kinds of things.

Ummm...

I know Zoom makes an affordable drum machine.

And the Alesis HR-16/HR-16:B/SR-16 units are popular and affordable.

What else?... I know there was at least one other one I was going to mention, but now I can't remember......

EDIT: And just FYI, the HR units are pretty fucking big, if that's a problem.

in that Billy Corgan thread there was a link to an interview and i was pretty surprised to find out that the Alesis HR-16 was used for "1979." i think that is pretty killer. i think Le Tigre also used that drum-machine for a bit as well.

i think that is pretty killer.

i circuit bent a yamaha dd-5 and it sounds fuckin weird. if you're into circuit bending i'd go for this cuz it's like a 30 dollar shitty ass drum machine but you can get a plethora of crazy noises out of it and it's practically made to be circuit bent.
well i guess, but i just don't know.
