Subdecay Proteus demo

Post by goroth »

This is how I use the Proteus in my band. Burgs has done a great demo of the Proteus, Kayzer probably has as well. But this one contains fuzz, and riffs. And delay.

Nice demo! Sounds really good used in those "not traditional envelope filter sound" contexts like metal riffs.

Nicely done! I dig it. Really cool sounds. I like that you're using it in a riff/metal context. Also, props on that Maiden shirt you're wearing.

Thanks breaux!

Maiden shirts are a must, as is good lighting apparently - never filmed myself before and I was forced to do an overlay thing cos the whole picture was this awful yellowy colour. And I realised that my son had spilt porridge on my shirt and pants, so I had to fade that out...

You can get heaps of sounds out of this thing, really is a box of fun, and useable too. Should work ok on bass - tested with the octasynth on and it sounded pretty good too. But the only stuff I know about bass is from cyber stalking Behndy, so :idk:

Thank you so much for this! Exactly the kind of demo I needed.
Love that you used the Frazz too, as it's my main dirt.

Yeah, I saw you were using that in the pedalboard thread (?). Raaaad pedal that doesn't get enough love.

So is the current color the blue one you have, or the red/blue/black one?

When I picked mine up you could choose either colour. On their website they've only got the multicolour though. :idk:
The only revision I know of is on newer ones there is an internal switch for lowpass, highpass and bandpass. Bought mine ages ago and it had the switch, so unless you get some ancient one from the bst it should be like mine.

Oh yeah, the demo is on bandpass. Xero does low pass :D

They also correct a noise problem... with the old one if you add an high gain fuzz or dist in you chain... you can hear the led clicking.
I discover that porblem when I got mine and SubDecay fix the problem and replace mine.

I now have the newer version with that switch (but I dont use that switch).

hey, digging this up as this is the only talk I found about that internal switch. I opened mine (which I purchased from Subdecay directly and late 2013, so after you), but I don't know where that switch is. There's only the back of the PCB, and it's "stuck" or at least fixed well enough that it makes me afraid of pulling it and destroying everything... any idea?
