Spaceman Sputnik
As far as I know only a few people have these or maybe they just have the prototype versions. Watched a video from "elevation boutiques" that looked interesting. It's got some weird sounds that kind are somewhat in the realm of a fuzz factory. Anyone have one of these on order? Build quality looks amazing but it looks like you pay for it.

How did you get the black version on order? I thought you could only get it through dealers.

Re: Spaceman Sputnik
The PCBs are fucking fantastic. I think a lot of boutique stuff is just rubbish - built by a bunch of hacks with absolutely nothing justifying a price beyond supply and demand dictating that a bunch of tools will gladly pay for their crap. But Spaceman really take the pedal as art aesthetic to another plane. The circuits seem to sound good enough, but there's nothing soundwise, or idea-wise that would make me go for their stuff over any of the great stuff put out by the ILF builders - if anything I find their sales pitch annoying ("The Gemini III is an all-discrete (no IC's) transistor fuzz." - oh, so that makes it clearly a better product than anything using ICs...). But if I was going to pay silly money for a pedal just because, I'd buy one of theirs.

I had a prototype of the Saturn V (the first "Special Mission") that came with a lego Spaceman inside. So, there's that.D.o.S. wrote:I thought there was a special prize inside each one.
Having owned that and the Aphelion, I'd say they're pretty excellent sounding and very aesthetically appealing, but the prices they command on the used market are pretty outrageous. Sure, they are limited, numbered, etc. But I feel like those aspects, plus the hokey Space-talk PR for each one, appeal to a certain comic book-collecting fanboyish subset of pedal buyers, which help fuel the mad rush for them upon their release, and their subsequent limited availability. If that's your thing, then cool. If not, that's cool too.
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

Anyone get one yet? A guy at TGP had one so I am guessing they are shipping.

Mine should be shipping within the next week. Hopefully it proves to be the fuzz for which I've been looking. I'm glad to see reports of it being pretty versatile.

love their aesthetics, writing, common design language, gut design, etc. hate them for some reason though. i love that one of theirs with the guts resembing the pic goroth posted, but with 2 layered pcbs. too conflicted. definitely too broke.

Re: Spaceman Sputnik
I actually bought two of the sputniks. Might be their best fuzz yet. Really sick tones throughout the gain and tone range of this bad boy.
