Top 5 Albums for Autumn

Post by modernage »

Most of us will have difficulty trying to make a "Top 5 Albums Ever of All Time" type list, so I thought we could make it a bit more focused.

With Autumn (Fall) in full swing for those of us in the top half of the world, I felt it would be suiting to list the top 5 albums to get us in the mood for Autumn. For those of us who live south of the equator, a little imagination might be needed. Think of leaves changing colors, the rain, the cooler weather. Well at least that's what I think of when I think of Autumn.

This is my list of albums that help make this time of year as enjoyable as possible, even with the thought of winter weather fast approaching...

Matt Pond PA - Several Arrows Later
Kings of Convenience - Quiet is the New Loud
Leaves - Breathe
The Stills - Logic Will Break Your Heart
The Verve - A Storm in Heaven

It's funny... I was just making a fall mix.

Arcade Fire - Arcade Fire EP
Islands - Return to the Sea
The Dear Hunter - Act I: The Lake South, The River North
Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica
Giraffes? Giraffes! - Superbass!

All in no real order.

Honorable Mention:

The Shins - Wincing the Night Away
Do Make Say Think - You, You're a History In Rust
Interpol - Turn On the Bright Lights
Dude, a ball pit is not... weren't you ever a little kid? Ya know, a ball pit, with the plastic balls and you'd jump in it... it's not a gay bar!

Yeah good call on the Arcade Fire. Funeral definitely feels very autumn-y.

Funeral happens to be my number 1 winter album!

Honestly! classical music is my fall music of choice.

BUT!

FALL ALBUMS BEST OF ALL TIME:
1. Glo-worm - Glimmer (absolutely perfect for autumn rains)
2. American Football - American Football
3. Nick Drake - Bryter Layter
4. Slowdive - Just For A Day
5. Brian Jonestown Massacre - Their Satanic majesty's Second Request

this fall has had a whole lot of Stone Roses Spiritualized and Slowdive so far.

Nice. I originally had some Nick Drake on my list, but took him off in favor of something else. That was the point where I felt the limitations of a five album list.
