Cool Low-Pass filter?

Post by Dramatis Persona »

Hello, I'm looking for a cool low pass filter.
I had the IE Xerograph Deluxe but I sold it beacause it doesn't works very well with a single coil guitar. This pedal was perfect with drop tuning, short scale hb guitars and bass.
I can't found anything on the web that sounds like the Xero, every filter I've listened sounds too "envelope" for me, too funky, too quack quack.
The xero was really synthy.

This is the sound that I'm looking for.

Any suggestion?

Thank you!

Moog MF-101 with an expression pedal.
If you can find it, a Frostwave Resonator (or some other MS-20 filter clone)

Mf-101 moogerfooger filter
Frostwave resonator
Or if you've got money to burn, ekdahl moisturizer. The filter on that thing is :omg:

On the cheaper side, maybe try a korg monotron? I think the filter sounds great on guitar, it's just not in a convenient pedal format so you would probably want to use a bypass looper.

A Smashing Pumpkins b side: Dreaming

Some SP cool tone are Honeyspider and Starla solo.

Another very awesome filter was the hog filter, but it isn't automatic and works well only with an expression pedal.

The Moog MF-101 is really cool, but it's not cheap and it's very huge.
Also I think if I buy a moog pedal, I'll buy every pedal, that's the reason why I don't want to buy any moog pedal.

The frostwave is cool but I't hard to find one in Europe.
Monotron, I had one, I broke it. I prefer something in a pedal format.

Sudbecay?

Ekdahl moisturizer this thing is god!!!
But actually I don't have money to burn in this...

I think I should buy another Xero...

I never gelled with the SubDecay filters. I think Xero kills them but I am a Bass player.

If you look hard enough you should be able to find a used MF-101 for a good price.

I only play single coil equipped guitars and the Xero Deluxe works fine for me.

Sometimes takes a minute or two to dial in, but once you've got it, it's golden.

i looked for something like this a few months ago.

also found a bunch of envelopey filter pedals, :( no straight filter! besides the xero and the moog.

i ended up using the filter+drive on my sp404.

I am a dork. I want my xero back... I miss it

Ps: my xero sounded very different from kayzer demo or the other guitar demoes, with my corgan strat soundend more like a broken wah. Maybe mine was broken?

I was on the hunt last month. I went with the prometheus dlx. Its great. But the xerograph, still sound awesome in those demos. The low pass filter on the pro. Dlx is dope, and can be used as a static filter too. But there is a evilness to that xerograph i can not dial into the pro. Dlx.

I only had one for a couple of weeks on a trade, but I found it worked ok with single coil guitars. It does sound better on bass but it sounded pretty good on guitar still.

not sure what this guys deal is, but a quick google search revealed that a company called robot factory used to make some boss ms20 filter clones in pedal format.

I don't know that Mario of Robot Factory still makes them - I've heard one story where he was "back!" And then more blurbs of no communication.

Have you not looked into the standard Xerograph? It is a low pass filter without an envelope follower.
