if you do the led mod(super easy)
it gets a bunch more hradroom
and works real well with pedals
and so not expensive for how good it sounds
they also have a 10w one with a 6" speaker
probly just as good
Did the pictorial stuff I linked help with the mod? (I can't believe I waited so long, but TweedBassman's tremolo depth mod was a nice bonus.)

I had the ac4 and currently have the cub 12 and I can vouge for both these amps.

The laney has a surprising amount of low-end without losing any sparkle. It's my favorite clean tone for my guitar by far, even in comparison with my Twin. It also has plenty of headroom for most applications. The one watt setting sounds weird to me, i.e. not as full, and isn't much quieter, but it's not too hard to keep it down using the gain and master knobs.

I don't remember much about the ac4 but I remember liking it a lot. It had a kind of boxey sound that was a lot of fun. The various power modes were handy too.

I need one of those little Peavey / no name practice amps. My friend had a bass one and it actually sounded pretty sweet.
I was also thinking those newer Acoustic and Ampeg practice amps, they seem pretty cool.

I had to go look at what my small practice amp is
is like a TG10 or something
its a chassis from one small solid state amp mounted in a squier 10 watt cab

sounds pretty good though

For little bedroom type amp, I'm planning on getting a Mustang II soon.

I have some absolutely killer patches and a laptop in there to edit as needed.

For the times I want to move a little air I'd rather have the midrange model.

It also has enough acceptable effects onboard to leave me happy - the fuzzes aren't amazing but I can get a convincing faux tweed or Marshall.

Bedroom amp beggars can't be choosers and I don't see the point in a "I'm sick" tube amp where I may forget to turn it off for a week.

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

I'm very happy to hear that it helped someone out. Definitely do the depth mod, too -- TweedBassman done good on that one.

space6oy wrote:what about the lil' orange SS combos? those suck w/o tubeage?
I have the Orange crush 35b. It was my first amp and I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. Its a bass amp so i cant really speak for the sound of the guitar ones, but build quality and all that is good. So yeah anyway I say :thumb: to cheapo made in china Orange.
