Not sure if these have been discussed before but I just noticed them on Fenders site.
No trems and those Jazzmaster single coils are actually humbuckers :|
Would have been awesome if Fender just made a lower cost AVRI alternative with a modern 9.5" jumbo fret neck, le sigh. Also is this the first Fender Mustang made in the US since the originals were discontinued?

was closing the gap between the tune o matic and the mustang guard really an insurmountable task.

finally a hardtail jazzmaster that i would jump on. but humbuckers and a 9.5 radius kills the deal for me. oh well.

I'm hoping Mustangs being manufactured in the US will finally lead to a proper Fender USA Mustang reissue down the line.

That's what I'm hoping for too Maybe these American Specials are a precursor to American Standard Jazzmasters, Jags and Mustangs. Something priced between the Squier VMs and the stupid expensive AV '65s but with proper specs.

I didn't even notice the switch placement, at first glance. Dumb move.
I'd be super into an otherwise stock hardtail JM.
