Not my pic, but it's the same kind. I gave my roommate a Super Distortion to put in the bridge of his Univox Hi-Flyer which had these humbuckers, so in exchange he gave me the one he was replacing. I've also seen them on Univox Rippers. What do they sound like? I'd just try out my roommate's guitar but his switch is broken.

Before I even read what you wrote, I was like that's a pickup from a Hi-Flier.
I don't have much experience with the guitar pickups, but I've got a Hi-Flier bass w/ the bass version of those. They're not gonna be as loud as a Super Distortion, but they're great sounding pickups. I think they're pretty well balanced. I think if it'll work for you depends on what other pickup you're gonna pair it with.

Ha! You got my numba. I have this junker Tele copy with a swimming pool route I was thinking of tossing it in, maybe in the neck position. I'm pleased to hear it's not as loud as Super D, I prefer low output pickups, myself. Part of me is hoping that it's meant to sound like the P-90 type pickups that are in the older Hi-Fliers. I love P-90s.

I love P-90s too, but it's not gonna sound like that. It doesn't have the edge and bite of a P-90. If you're looking for a P-90 sound from that pickup, you'll be greatly disappointed. It sounds like a nice, well-rounded humbucker. I think it's a good choice for a neck pickup. They're a little lacking as bridge pickups.

Cool! That's still useful to me. It's always great to have a weird humbucker in the shoebox. Thanks so much!
