So I have been playing my or120 as an or80 because I got a dud tube that just won't light. Doesn't look brunt and only that single tube is broke, I think Svetlana has 3 month warranty and I'm still under that so I'm gonna see what I can do.
Either way I didn't realize how huge the difference would be tone wise. Not bad less bass so its doesn't feel as loud, I also get a much more compressed grit at my same settings. Interesting but not bad although I hope to fix these tube probably so I can decide between these two settings. As am or80 this might fit my math rock context a lot better though.

It's a Sterling Imports era modded to 70's single channel OL specs and has the reverb and fx loop bypassed as well as a "high gain mod". And it came with Mullard (new not NOS) power tubes, and the service tag from the mod's / restore was on the inside of the chassis from 2009, looks like it was recapped and everything. It's cleaner on the inside then the outside Anyways onto pics:
I think I'm going to turn this into my first project amp, as I eventually want to upgrade all the pots (especially the master volume) and remount the tube sockets to the chassis instead of the pcb. Which is all pretty simple stuff. It sounds killer, me and Skully plugged in on a whim and were blown away with how good it actually sounded. I didn't want to trust a newer hiwatt but this was one of those times where i trusted my ears and I'm glad i did.
That's hot. I need to make it down to atomic again soon that place is like crack. The smell of hundreds of old tube amps

Thanks bud! I totally spaced or I would have hit you up to come with us!
And yes that place is like crack, you can't walk ten feet with out being like "Ohhhhh hey look at that!". And yeah the smell of old tube amps is wonderful. They had a VHT CL-100 there for like 1200$ I was drooling hard over, as well as a few vintage JCM800's.... gah i could spend hours and thousands of dollars there...

Regarding the VHT CL-100 is $1200 a decent going rate for one of these amps? I have one and am thinking of unloading it but have no idea what they go for these days. I bought it new a long long while ago.

That's about what they sell for on eBay, the one I was looking at was loaded with kt-88's which was pretty cool. They're awesome sounding amps if you like amp dirt.
