I think that Yamaha sg and firebird speak to me I gotta try them out, as single coils that aren't p90s seem to leave me wanting more. I found. 2001 reliced firebird with three minibuckers I'm gonna see how that sounds and hopefully be able to pick it up.

I wouldn't rush into anything, wait for the right guitar to come along. You don't want to make a rash choice and sink your money into an oddball that's hard to flip on. Play heaps and figure out what you're looking for.

A firebird would probably handle similar to an RD, although I think RD's had a 25.5" scale?

I've got an beat up old SG2000, it plays very well, has a rather flat radius, and they came with low frets stock. It's heavy, but balances nicely. The pickups are wonderfully clear and open sounding with a surprising amount of output, although I often find myself wanting a bit more grunt out of the bridge, but I've yet to find anything better than the stock pups, they're like the perfect balance between vintage tone and modern power.

You could get a cheap junker to tide you over?, maybe something to customise or modify, you might like the Mascis Jazzmaster; there's a bunch of changes there where it differs from a traditional, the pickups are more powerful than usual for instance, jumbo frets etc. Put together a parts JM?

those Yamaha's are badass. I've had the chance to handel one and they are quite heavy! A very solid guitar and it sounded awesome.

Well I need to find a place that had he guitar available so I can try the j mascis jazzy, but the firebird has that same look of my rd except the scale of it is 25.5. That's not a huge deal as I feel good on either scale, but hopefully I vibe with the large headstock thing

Well updates, no guitar, the shop selling the firebird I wanted had a dick owner that was trying to make himself seem like some sort of savant at guitar pricing and went I showed him a reasonable offer for a guitar he said will see and just started talking to another person. I also found all the RDs to be on the high end of the price range, I bought mine for like market value at about a grand so I'm back to trying to hunt for something.

I might just say fuck it and get like a yamaha SG or something, maybe those squire jazzys. So keep the weird guitar on the cheap side flowin

The Marauder in fact has two humbuckers. One is just single coil sized. :thumb:
