General/Random Questions Thread

Post by bugzaney »

I believe there was already a thread like this but I didn't find it so here we go. Let's let this be a place for all gear related questions that really don't need their own threads.

1. Does the Dr.Sci Tremellessence have stereo ins and outs?

Possible list of stereo trems/

2. Got a goodbye 24 and boy is it noisey. Where have y'all found the sweet spot in your chain to be for the G24? Also, this pedal is supposed to be REALLY noisey right?

thanks!! :joy:

I just sent an email to Scott regarding my GB24... I just got it form the most recent batch, and I think it might be more noisy that it should. I was also just playing with it and the signal was cutting in and out and fizzling and stuff. This happens with the 24 as the only pedal between my guitar and amp, as well as in a chain. When I listen to demos and then play mine it definitely has more white noise and static than what I'm hearing in videos...

I'm all for noisy pedals and being noisy and static-y and making cool things from that, but my GB24 almost seems unusable to me. I had it on the B/S/T but just pulled it because I think something might be wrong. I'll let you know what Scott says, and maybe you should shoot him a message, too.

The newest version of the Tremolessence is stereo but it uses TRS jacks rather than separate ins and outs for left and right. There is also a switch inside that pedal that changes from panning the trem left and right or both channels at once.

^ Yep. If you can deal with using TRS adapters for stereo then the Tremolessence cannot be beaten.
I really like the Flint, too (what I'm using right now) which has stereo outputs and one input that can be switched between mono and TRS stereo.

My GB24 is fairly noisy but as long as I put it AFTER all dirt/boost pedals (or don't use them at the same time) it's perfectly bearable. It's pretty lo-fi sounding anyway.
Mine is from the second batch, though, not sure about the latest ones.

Yep, gb24 is a bucket of noise. Even going easy on the mix it gets noisy when the feedback is up. But I don't care, there are so many good sounds I could own four of them.

Yeah Stripes, it would be great to hear what Scott says. I love the sounds I get out of it but the noise is unbearable at times.

And I mean, the noise comes from both the lofi quality of the chip in general, and then you're stretching the chip to its limits too on top of it. It's kind of like when you push PT2399 chips or BBD's into an extended range- motorboating and noise are just things that can be filtered out, or dealt with!

TRS: doing the job of two jacks in less space. I get the space saving they can have, but I almost feel like if you're going to have to use a cable adapter you might as well have two jacks and just do it that way

TRS = ting, ring, sleeve; TS = tip, sleeve
I guess if they'd have to use a bigger enclosure to fit two extra jacks then it would be fair enough to use TRS jacks to keep the size down for people that run the pedal in mono.
Plus since the Tremolessence is top-mounted you won't use up horizontal board space if you need to use adapters. They're pretty cheap anyway.

since ILFers got that knowledge i've got a few more inquiries.

i'm running a stereo out from my time bender into two amps. got an EHX superego going out on the stereo b cord to the second amp. i want the superego to go to both amps though. what could i do to make this happen as the super ego does not have stereo outs? also, i'd like the super ego to be last in my chain so the effected signal doesn't pass mess with any other effects.

thanks!

Unfortunately, if you convert a stereo signal into mono, it will be mono from that point on. I'd suggest putting it before your stereo effects.

Anyone know what model mixer that is (unless I've totally got it wrong and it's not a mixer)? Anybody making that sort of low-profile-ish 1/4" only (I assume; looks like it) mixer?
