Re: Strings!
Lately Musicians Friend has been having this killer sale of 2 packs of DR Pure Blues and 1 Pack of black coated Extra Life's for $10.70 + Shipping. I spent like 37$ on 9 sets of strings the other day... thats like around 4 a pack...
But yeah,
Pure blues
They're not the brightest strings in the world, but i love it because they almost have a consistent sound throughout their life. It's not like a week and a half after you put a pack of ernie balls on you can hear their "life" has depreciated. It's awesome. I change strings every month or so if they don't break. I play everyday and i usually play out at least three times a week. So they get used.
The Extra Life's were awesome for tour..
For my acoustic i go martin Extra Light SR's or whatever that series is called. The low strings aren't so prominent and muddy in that set, and my acoustic is really bright and translates low end poorly. I put a set of rotosound acoustic strings on it once, they were the worst.
For my bass, Rotosound Flats.
I play a '64 Gretsch Country Gentleman Hollow Body, and man they do it perfectly... warm, round, body, toanz... yesssss
But yeah,
Pure blues

I always go with the heaviest I can find, usually the Not Even Slinky's. I can't understand how elixir strings feel comfortable to some people.

i use daddario chromes on my carvin fatboy and on my ibanez asb140 bass. i bought em cause they were the cheapest flatwounds. now i know i like the flat wounds so i might try some better ones.....
daddario exl150 for my 10 string bich, i wish i could find 12 string dr or ehx string sets, and daddario phosphor bronze on my 12 string seagull.
i do want to try cleartones on the 12 string seagull as i also have the corrosive sweat.

Re: Strings!
I'm using GIT .10 atm (got 'em cheap at Musikmesse), but I'm constantly switching around, just for the sake of it
On my nylon I use Hannabach Goldin. ~30€ per set, but they are totally worth it!

Re: Strings!
SIT. I love the Rock Brights for bass, but I'm considering getting something more mellow. Fender strings fit that bill pretty well. Or Thomastik, but fuck that price. I liked the set I had, though...
For acoustic, I use SIT. I think of SIT as a much higher quality D'Addario/EB. Pretty basic, great sounding strings, but their quality is better.
