You are correct, if you update the OS of the Rang III to the latest version, it will recognize the Side Car and enable MIDI sync. It so good I might even get another rang III and sync them together.Tristan wrote:I see what you mean, that list is a bit old though, it also says the Infinity can't do reverse while it can with the new update (I didn't know that before either).
It's also wrong about the Boomerang III not being able to sync to Ableton or BPM I think but I'm not sure.

I hope you don't need the Side Car to enable MIDI sync?
In that case the Rang III easily looks like the best option in my book.

Yep. It's super awesome. That's why my bandmate and I chose those.Glenouille wrote:You are correct, if you update the OS of the Rang III to the latest version, it will recognize the Side Car and enable MIDI sync. Drum machine and sampler purposes are covered by the MacBook running Mainstage. My keybords sounds are also generated using plugins. Midi beat clock is sent to the Rang next to my pedalboard, then sent to my mate's Rang. That way we can loop and keep the loops synchronized to the beat even on our 15 minutes songs.

Thanks guys!
I'm really curious about the music you guys make with the Rang, have you got some stuff online?

i think i catch yr drift... so i'm basically sacrificing a track to have different tracking times, eh? i'll have to try that out.sonidero wrote:Yes, it does those things...stripes wrote:i have the 2880
Hey stryper, if you record the first loop with no sound for like a minute you can then switch to tracks 2, 3, or 4 and record your one second loop then go to another track for the other stuff... Make sense???

Re: Looking for a looper...need some guidance/insight
I borrowed the RC-2 from a friend of mine and I love it, the automatic loop function really is genius as it also detects odd measures and everything and you don't have to hit play/stop completely accurate to let the loop play in sync.
EDIT:
I'll just forget about the RC-300, it can only be the master clock and cannot slave to another master so the MIDI sync is completely useless in my opinion.
I'm now looking into the Boss RC-20XL and the Digitech JamMan / JamMan Stereo a bit more and I read quite a few discussions on them but I can't find anywhere whether the automatic loop function functions the same as on the RC-2.
Everywhere it says you have to define the tempo through tap tempo before recording, which isn't necessary with the RC-2, does anyone know whether the RC-20XL, JamMan and JamMan Stereo can work the same way as the RC-2?

I just have a Boss RC-2, but based on that, I'd recommend the RC series.

Today on PGS I noticed Pigtronix no longer participates in online coupon codes, so I'm glad I acted when I did.rustywire wrote:Well, I did it.
Took the plunge; PGS has a 15% off which drops the price to about $380.
Less than any of the used prices currently available around feebay...and it comes with the PGS return policy.
Maybe I'll get one that hasn't been returned![]()
This feels right. Cant wait to play.
It was worth it.
My only real complaint about the device is the transfer software stinks and needs work. It's like 15 years outdated.
But that can be remedied...and the Infinity itself is still proving to be the right choice for me.
