Re: SolidGoldFX TourBox Reviews & Demos
the box is here yo!!!!
all the pedals are awesome
look wicked great
first thoughts
the trem and delay are flipping sick
I could easily replace my empress with this trem
Another cool thing with the trem.....it has enough boost to push my ac4 into some nice overdrive/top boost sounds. The tone knob and boost cranked and no trem make it a useable boost which is crazy, plus I can dial in some OD/Trem sounds easily
the agent 13 is beefy and chewy and flipping awesome
The delay is great and the tone knob is wicked usefull, really crushes
gotta spend more time with the 76 it seems to compress and bloom in a strange way that doesn't work with the way I am playing
maybe it is too late in my chain too, very possible
one note, I was playing with my 76 univox with a duncan distortion in the bridge into an AC4, I can usually push the AC4 into breakup with just picking hard on that guitar in about any setting
going to try everything on my pignose 60 and see if I can get you all some low quality demos
also: Wife could go into labor any minute now so if I dissapear for a day or two I am just being a supportive husband

Re: SolidGoldFX TourBox Reviews & Demos
bad quality demos incoming
this is the 76
Starting to really love it, gonna try it with some lower output guitars and bigger amps soon
also: playing with just the electroman today
what a friggen good delay
has this swirl about it that is really awesome sounds really natural and smooth
hopefully demos of that if I can get some peace and quiet

electroman demo,
sloppy playing is cool
just messing with some settings
the warp with the tone down gets some crazy bassy feedback, warp works best with tone up
shipped out the tourbox
no demo of the trem, but it is flipping awesome could easily replace my empress

Re: SolidGoldFX TourBox Reviews & Demos
HEY SO I GOT THE TOURBOX!

Got really excited tonight, so before I did video stuff I recorded this track with all of the pedals.
It was recorded live through this, except the kick mic was on the Verellen and the vocal mic was on the Sovtek's cab:

There was no post-EQ'ing of the sounds at all. It went mics -> mixer set flat -> stereo usb -> Garageband
I did a little bit of noise reduction to get rid of the white noise that the mics were picking up, but that's it in terms of mastering.
Left ear is Verellen stack and right ear is Sovtek stack.
Madbean Afterlife Compressor -> Solidgoldfx Formula 76 (vol. 2, tone 10, comp. 0, fuzz 10) -> Solidgoldfx Agent 13 (fuzz 10, bias 10, vol. 5) -> Solidgoldfx Stutterbox (speed 7, mode 0, depth 4, tone 7, gain 3, divide 4, sine wave setting) -> Solidgoldfx Electroman (level 4.5, repeat7, tone 6, time 6.5)
[soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/skullservant/08202013-solidgoldfx-tourbox-1[/soundcloud]
First impressions:
Formula 76: This guy was a little confusing at first, but once I found a sound that I liked I just kind of left it. Sounds superfuzzy, a little more square than a Tone Machine, but shares that really gutteral chainsaw type sound, and then when you hit the tone footswitch gets that really midsy awesome octavy sound as well. I'd compare it to a refined Verellen Big Spider. I haven't messed around with the comp knob, I will definitely have to do that.
Agent 13: HOLY SHIT does this sound good on bass. If I could have ONE pedal that I had to play a set with on bass, it would be this pedal. It just sounds GOOD. I used it as a 'more-er' on guitar, essentially it bumped the mids after the Formula 76 so the signal didn't get lost, but damn do they stack well together.
Stutterbox: Pretty neato trem. Reminds me of the Music PCB tap tempo trem guy, which isn't a bad thing at all, it's nice to already be pretty familiar with the controls. It's also loud as hell.
Electroman: I REALLY like this guy. And I've played a lot of delays. Not sure what it is about it, but it's really something different. The way it oscillates, the way it lingers, all sounds different in a really good and interesting way. Plays well and sits nicely with dirt. I'd totally buy one of these guys along with the Agent 13.
Anyways, some videos or more songs will soon follow!

Re: SolidGoldFX TourBox Reviews & Demos
skully man that is some good stuff, great audio and a great written demo
I felt the same way with the 76 it was a different fuzz than I am used to
eventually I found some monstrously heavy sounds with it, have fun with the comp knob wicked useful

I will
and so as not to completely derail the thread. The really fast speeds on the trem are sick

I think so too! And the tone knob was super useful on it as well- unusual feature, but awesome no less and really made it a switchblade of possibilities

Re: SolidGoldFX TourBox Reviews & Demos
Try it as a treble boost. With your valve junior it would be awesome
