I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

yeah man seriously considering this purchase... it's just hilarious because i was considering DOWNSIZING my amp rig (from AC15 to AC4). Now i'm thinking about how sweet the AC15 would sound in stereo with the Jazz Chorus... Hilarious!

I have an old (mid-70's) JC-60, which is basically a 120 cut in half. 60 watts @ 8ohms, 1x12. I really like it for a lot of different applications. It's a pretty bright amp, so sometimes certain fuzzes can sound a bit harsh or sterile. I put an Eminence Tonespotter in it to beef it up a bit, it definitely helped. It's solid state, but it still has this cool sound/personality of its own.
Anyways, it's my go-to amp for clean sounds. I loooove running my modulation through it.

I just got one like a week ago. For $200. And I'm told it was the Talking Heads' back in the day (but that's just gravy). I like it more than an AC15 I used a couple time, and it takes pedals like a dream. It's something along the lines of

Moral of the story is buybuybuybuy!

Am I stating too much if I say that I think the Jazz Chorus is the best solid state guitar (not bass) amp of all time?
Lots of classic stuff played and recorded with those.
Great clean sound. Overdrive/Distortion --- not so much. Takes pedals well.

Are the JC60 or 90 as good as the 120?

as far as solid states go, this one was a real winner. i've heard JC90s before too, they sound great. i also really like tech 21's amps.

That amp was my endgame when it came to amp GAS. Its so perfect if you use pedals for dirt. IMO best clean guitar amp evar.

Re: played a roland jazz chorus last night
I fully endorse the JC love. Do it! Never heard of anyone saying they regretted getting one. I have a JC120 I got in the mid 80s, my Ric 12 string and tele sound amazing thru it. I have tube amps that handle dirt better but for clean and chime you can't beat it.

I play jc120(rental) and lunchbox(mine) at band rehearsal as a stereo rig...
with the right cab, lunchbox is warmer AND have the same clarity/prescence and volume JC has.
Both are great amp for my FUZZes->DLS rig.

Howabout the RC-50. Is it just for bedtime playing?
