Re: going beyond aluminum?
I feel bad though 'cause obviously some thought went into the design, but...
but....butt. It sounds like butt.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of porcelain.backwardsvoyager wrote:http://hand-guitars.com/node/52Chankgeez wrote:True.
I'm gonna build a guitar out of clay.

I figured, similar idea though.Chankgeez wrote:I was actually thinking more along the lines of porcelain.
I am curious as to how a porcelain guitar would sound.
Props to the Stash people for trying something different, but I really can't see it taking off.

Re: going beyond aluminum?
i can't help but notice that the demo doesn't have a single note longer than an eighth note, which leads me to think that long notes sound like crap. it also frets out like a mofo on the first three or four frets. but my greatest objection is that it doesn't sound like a BASS. there's absolutely no booty (or Bootsy!) in the thing at all.

Re: going beyond aluminum?
I'd say it needs a thicker neck, but I can't even imagine paying $3000 for something like that in the first place.

Re: going beyond aluminum?
Trying to think if there's any benefit to the tubular neck other than "hey, we did something different," cause it seems awfully limiting (limits chords, limits bends, limits runs that move to more than one string)...for all they time they spent designing it, and all the money you have to spend to get one...WHY?
Both videos I watched had that awful flagpole slap. :/

Re: going beyond aluminum?
The only time I have ever seen it in a good context was buy a company called tubular instruments that made a wooden tube electric upright, it look cool, but I don't think they got anywhere with it.Tom Dalton wrote:Trying to think if there's any benefit to the tubular neck other than "hey, we did something different,"

Re: going beyond aluminum?
But then you need to do the ol' reacharound...fiddling with your hand behind your bass guitar, getting thrown out of gigs...sonidero wrote:It looks like it can be strung all the way around which would be cool I guess???
