When the dude slaps, it sounds like when a flag is on a flagpole in the wind... Not sure how I feel about it. The fretboard is still freaking me out but damn does it look like Thorr's axe.

Re: going beyond aluminum?
i used to work at a steel factory. i could see this being heavy, un weidly, and tonally garbage. imagine dropping this on your foot. bye toes. something about aluminum screams build guitars out of me. something about steel says it seems like a good idea, but good ideas usually dont cross over well in translation to the real world.
*edit* listened to the video, sounded better than i thought it would, also its alot smaller than i thought it would be so i doubt its heavy. but damn that neck is tiny. midget hands. he even has trouble fretting during the chord section. i like room on my basses. even when they are 6 strings!

Re: going beyond aluminum?
Looks like it would be impossible to use barre chords on. And tough to skip strings. Just not ergonomic for most playing. That would be my biggest problem.
The video doesn't really show any musical style I feel like the bass itself caters to. Looks like an instrument of doom, not funk and jazz.
Only 10 lbs. so it isn't too heavy. But I'm just not a fan of the body shape. Almost too thin.

I mean that shape kills the fact that that would be a very bowible guitar.
