WHERE were you back WHEN? (Pedal board thread spinoff)

Looking good. Some cool setups so far; the more modest/DIY the better.

This is my humble beginnings/first guitar rig from summer 2011, when I was still fully green:


TK999HT > Brit Boost > Mind Bender > AD9

Brit Boost was technically my first pedal ever (received from an old friend in broken-state) but the AD9 is what I consider my first pedal and the real gateway drug.

Wollensak reel2reel was used for its amp; a push-pull power section of 12ab5 tubes (kinda like el84 but lower power) with single 12ax7 driver and 12at7 PI.
I currently have 4 of these units, 2 mono, 2 stereo...that I've been saving for some fripptronics shiz, eventually...but I digress.

*ALL THIS* going into the open-back 1x12 Califone cab that was salvaged from a junked record player, which is still currently used (with the Selmer) in its current form:

1st board ever:
(Boss BE-5, then in the BE-5 loop there is MT-2 > EQ-7)
The amp was a Marshall JCM900 dual reverb and the guitar a Washburn RS-8V.
20 years ago or so... haven't keep any of them.

Then the first serious board (just before I join ILF):
(Stretch Wah > MicroPOG > Triple Recstortion > Fix' d Fuzz > Whetstone > Twister > Superdelay)
I still have the Superdelay.

Then, the first board that I posted on ILF:
(Octron > Fuzzy Lady > Stretch Wah > Proteus > Hydra > Fire Red Fuzz > Triple Recstortion > Twister > Superdelay)
I sold the Octron, but now I have another one... still have the Proteus, Hydra and the Superdelay.

We've done this before. I remember because I posted all my boards. If you fuckers insist though. Also, I realize this isn't what was being asked for, but I'm doing it anyway. Suck it baby.

Very first pedal combination here after becoming a member on Talkbass. Can you tell?



NEXT! Still just TB member I believe. Getting kind of risky here with the Noisebox and all.



Next (there was like 10-12 pedals in between this and the last board that I don't have pics of them all together because I flipped them so fucking fast.) Oh and as you can see, I was a member of ILF at this point. Note the TAFM, Blowing Up and Chk, Chk Boom

After this photo I made the worst pedal selling decision ever and sold my Blargotronotron. God damn it.

This is the earliest I have. I deleted a lot of my older pictures like an idiot. My first actual board was Shiva > RC20 > ECT. This was a couple of board afterwards I had a lot of generic's previously. This was when I was really getting into ILF builders.



I forgot I had this UGH WHY DO I SELL SHIT? The monarch is such a bad ass pedal on bass.



So many great sounds to be had with that rainbow machine.



This was a bit before the other board. I just bought upgrades that I thought would work to improve on those sounds.



a whole lot of flips later I ended up with this. The black pedal is a Officer Bukowski rat. I really really REALLY loved that pedal. Best rat ever.



This was my last fullish board.

I will take picture of what I go going on tonight. As a player I go through phases of playing and not playing that much, I sell and flip gear to get me playing again. I really need a band

Earliest pic I have. Soul preacher -> BYOC octave fuzz -> small stone -> double muff -> vibratrem -> digidelay.

Only thing I still have is the small stone (and the amp and guitar). Things have changed a LOT since.

Hahaha! I know dude! I fucking LOVED that pedal! It was one of my first and remained the longest. I think the longest kept one I have now is the Depth Charge.

I don't even want to begin to think about how much fucking money I've spent on this shit.

I actually found ILF when searching for my first pedal. So as I lurked here for a month or two, I was pedal-less. Eventually bought a swollen pickle in b/s/t. I loved it, and still have it actually.


This pic was the day after I built my pedalboard so this is my first "rig". The only pedals I don't have are that particular Fuck, cs-1, and whetstone.

I like being able to spot pedals that I owned/own on other's old pedalboards

I wish I'd kept that Carl TAFM (along with several other pedals from that photo).

I suspect that's quite possibly the same SDD I have on my board currently.
