No prob!

Yeah dude def get in touch with Adam or Tom over at Mammoth, they'll be able to set you straight one way or another. I'd definitely go for stain personally as I love how it ages, but the Tolex does stand up to abuse much better.

Well thats not too bad for size!!! Seems manageable for one hand as long as its not like 50-60lbs.

I see, I'd still recommend black grill cloth with that blood / wine red tolex. Twould look classy.

Thanks, man!

What do you think to these names for the amp:

Tryion (Half-Man)

This was recommended by a Doom Roomer friend who noticed the small but potentially cunning and powerful nature of the amp. This inspired him to think of Tryion Lanester from Game of Thrones. I dig the show and characters so I thought it apt. It's a cool name for an amp, but follows no specific theme and is only related to the diminutive demeanour of the amp and its boisterous sound qualities.

Railway15 / Railway 15 / Rail15 / Rail 15

I love travelling by train. I don't drive so use the train a lot. In the past, due to the size of my board and the weight of my amp I haven't been able to travel by train or bus when performing. This amp is inspired by this desire and necessity. I'm aiming for around 30lbs but I imagine it'll be more than that. I love the word railway. Rail is cool word in and of itself, but the fact that it means something to the amp only adds to it. The 15 is basically just the wattage of the amp. Do you think this is cheesy and chintzy? I usually abide by themes that have regular occurrences and repetitions, but some may find this stupid.

the end size of the shell might be different than that, not sure just quite yet as the chassis will be 10" deep, 17" wide, 3" tall. The amp cant sit behind the speaker since its needs pretty much the entire cab depth to fit so theres going to be lots of height on this cab if you can image it. Taller than it is wider.

That's not good. I don't like tall and narrow.

yea basically you need 12 inches of clearance for the speaker, then 3" for the chassis then some more height for the components mounted on top of the chassis like transformers with sufficient space to allow for air to move for some kind of cooling (not a ton needed bu still some). Likely the speaker wont be flush mounted to the bottom of the cab so you going to space it up. If you need it to be symmetrically setup the height of the cab is going to be the biggest dimension

so if you need 6 inches for the chassis then if you need the speaker to be mounted on the center of the cab you will need 6 inches above it and below. So you thinking 6" + 12" + 6" = 24" and then factor in the wood thickness of 3/4" or so and your looking at like 25.5" tall and the width would be 17" + 3/4" wiggle room + wood thickness its looking like 19.25" wide. Depth wise you have 10" for the chassis then 1" or so on the front and back to there is room for the controls to be placed plus baffle thickness and your at like ~13" or so deep.

Hence why you may want to consider top mounting if you need it rectangular.

if you went top mounted for example now dimensions are going to fall more into what you like:

Now you need 10" of height for the chassis but you can mount it behind the speaker so the total height will be much less. You will still need the same kind of width but add 2 inches so more like 21.25" wide where as height is not going to be like "16" to 18" tall with a depth of like 12-15" estimated off the top of my head. So likely going top mount will be more inline with how you wanna run the cab look

I'll pay the extra needed for a bigger chassis, deal with the extra weight. I'd rather that than a tall combo. :)

I'm happy with 21.25 x 18 x by whatever depth it needs to be.That's only an inch or so more than my original plan of 21 x 17 x 9".

seems like it fits more in with your original idea. The cab will be rectangular plus you can see you controls more easily.

Great!

Would installing the speaker off-centre also help as well? I've seen a few people do that, Carr included.

Fucking hell, I'm such a Carr fanboi. I'll stop soon I promise.

yeah, um... my 1x12 combo is in that weight range and it's seriously tough to transport by hand... and since usually i have to, shit gets really exhausting :(

I also wish it had a better handle (and TNWSS, at least with me), so keep the handle in mind as well ;)

Didn't see this comment.

I'm not skinny. I have a bit of strength in me, but not enough to carry 55lbs of amp around on a train in one hand. So yeah, you're right, 50-60lbs is not manageable. Ha! 30-40lbs will be. Hopefully.

I am definitely tempted by staining. I'll have to look into it more. I considered it but never actually looked into it.

Definitely going to do some research into handles myself. I'm sure Nick has a kick-ass supplier since most of his heads will land in the 60lb range and will be transported to and from shows regularly, but for curiosity sake I'll do a little research and see what I can find.
