I saw this a few weeks ago. Looks like there may or may not be a range issue "The range from your phone is 50 - 150ft depending on the environment. However, if any other Tile user's phone is within 50 - 150ft of your Tile, you will receive an update with the location of your Tile. When this happens, you will see a pin on the map view for your Tile. This essentially makes the range limitless once there are enough Tile users in your area."
150ft at best doesn't seem like it would be enough depending on where it's held, I could only see this as viable if Tile completely takes off and becomes very popular
Regarding the tile - their fine print is pretty rad:
"Reveal Labs, Inc. (the "Company") will use reasonable commercial efforts to deliver the products as described. You understand that the products are under development, and numerous technical, financial, and practical obstacles may interfere with their delivery to you and with their functioning thereafter. Accordingly, the Company does not promise that the products will be delivered to you on time or at all, or that they will function in accordance with their promotional descriptions."
Um... yeah... I'll buy that...

That’s quarter-assed at best.
Recently, my friend (who was on tour with me, playing drums) got a call from his step-mom saying their house had been broken into, and his Gibson Marauder was gone. He dealt with the grief, they went through all the proper channels, and we just accepted it was gone. Sad times.
Then, a few weeks after getting back from tour, the police found it in a pawn shop, and just gave it back to him. It was undamaged, and back home safe. So basically, I guess I'm saying sometimes there's hope when something's stolen. Shit, my house got robbed three times in the 4th grade (we then moved), and two years later, the police found my mom's work laptop in Brownswood.
damn there were laptops when you were 4th grade when i was 16 i think someone had a portable word processor it was the size of a ss guitar head and the screen was 2x6 and green i think you could play hangman on it
I've got a couple old ipods sitting around and was looking if there was anything fun to be done with them...
2. Transform it into a covert tracking device Using the Nike+iPod Sport Kit, you can turn that nigh-antique third generation iPod into a stealthy means of keeping tabs on friends and loved ones. The Nike+iPod sensor you're supposed to stick in your shoe can be placed anywhere, beaming out a unique signal detectable up to 60 feet away. That's where you, with your Linux-enabled iPod, pick up the signal with Nike's own receiver. Use your powers for good, and try not to be creepy!
