Cool grungy\ratty\shoegazey distortion pedal? :3
Hello there, I'm searching a cool, dirty, angry, grungy, smashing, etc... distortion pedal, but pay attention, not a fuzz\muff etc.
My choices:
A. Dr Scientist the Elements, pros: huge versatility, eq, a lot of switchies, good sounding, it can do low gain stuff too. cons: the price, but isn't an issue, maybe a bit fuzzy.
B. Walrus Audio Iron Horse, pros: seems sound very good, I like how does it sounds! cons: too loud, gain knob seems useless, it's made by hipster, maybe a bit overpriced.
C. Any white face rat clone.
PS: for mid gain, cool crunchs I'm using my beloved mantra overdrive, for fuzzy stuff I'm using the Walrus (hipster) Audio Jupiter Fuzz, I love this pedal, but it is an hipster pedal, I feel ashamed.
Thank you!

Re: Cool hi gain distortion pedal? :3
For hi-gain nothing beats the Elements, hands down best distortion pedal (non-tube) I've ever used. Also I never felt it got "fuzzy" just huge tight and crunchy.

Cool!
How does it sound with single coils?
I'm using on my stratocaster lace sensor blue\silver\red, like a bold guy during the 90s.

It sounds badass with singles or HBs or bass. SUPER tweakable, you can tailor it to any guitar/amp setup.

It sounded amazing with my tele custom, it has a GFS neovin tele bridge pickup (no feedback like a lace sensor). So crunchy yet articulate like a single p/u should be, throw a boost in front of it and
I used it to even get into hi-gain doom territory.Iommic Pope wrote: Skip, you rule. You hate people so much, you're willing to discredit all human progress, its awesome.

Hmmmmm that's a tough one, I'm partial to the steampunk myself but the nature is pretty sick. My fav is still the runes finish though.

^ LOL, I think you're onto something Skip.
I have and love the white 8-bit finish or whatever it is but based on current finish options, think I'd go nature.

I'm quite fond of the Okko Dominator for high gain. It gets you anywhere from high gain Marshall sort of sound all the way to modern chug.
