How many amps/cabs can you stack on each other?

Post by The Wood Wizard »

How many cabs and amps would you stack before you felt the bottom cab was taking to much weight?

Ive a 2x15, and 2 2x12s with three tube heads. I wanna put the 2x15 down long ways and stack the other two vertically on top. But then im worried with the added 100 pounds or so of heads itll be a little too much. What you think?

It'll be fine as long as the 215 is decent build quality.

Yah, I dunno, even if the cab is of super duper build quality that's alot of weight. I think you should stack the cabs and stack the amps next to the cabs on the ground or on an amp stand. You want to raise the speakers, which is great, but the amps don't need to be.

The amount of weight required to crush a cabinet made of decent wood is astronomically high. I'd be more worried about the stack of cabs and amps falling over.

Ask Donny and OinkBanana, they have impressed me with their amp wall more than a few times. :D

The 2 x 2X12's on the bottom (oriented vertically) with the 2X15 on top of them (oriented horizontally) with the heads on top of that might be structurally more sound as it would have more smaller panels bearing the load on the bottom (as opposed to having all of the weight on the long side of the 2X15.)

^ thats a great idea and very true, but the 2x12s are different sizes. i think ill stack the heads on top of the vertical 2x15 and the 2x12s on top of each other. super tall and skinny, but thats all the space I got!!
