New Releases of 2013

Post by LOCOPELAND »

What are you guys digging on that has been released this year? What are you looking forward to?

Most recently, I've really been enjoying the new Lord Dying album, "Summon the Faithless" and "Sten" by Ocean Chief.

Super digging the Haino/Ambarchi/O'Malley Nazoranai project + disc that came out this year.
The Body's new EP ruled as well.
That new Torche 7" that just came out on Volcom is nice and heavy on one side, dug that.

That's honestly all I've really bought this year to be honest. Just been digging through old stuff on my iTunes and listening to that mostly

I though the new Sigur Ros was pretty awesome :idk:
The Wintergatan self titled was sick. So much theremin happening.

That's all that stands out to me so far.

Pretty stoked about the new True Widow and Those Darlin's albums...Polar opposites, but yeah...

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The National, Queens of the Stone Age are great, there are a few other things that I haven't got round to listening to much like the latest Low album, and I'm sure a bunch that I've missed by being dumb.

I'm totally loving Palms

I'm dying waiting for the new Jakob.

The new Alice in Chains surprised me with how good it is. Stronger riffs than the previous album. Jerry needs to stop mixing William's vocals so far down in the mix and let him take some songs over, though.

The new Daft Punk was weird and I'm still trying to get used to it, but damn if those fuckers can't write catchy songs.

I'm sure there's more that will come to me.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I just got the new Phoenix, but haven't really digested it yet. I'll return with my review.

I caved and grabbed a leak of it. It's nothing unexpected, but sometimes it's nice when a band develops their sound and sticks with it rather than attempt to move away.

I liked the latest Boards of Canada, and Monomania by Deerhunter (though it took a while for it to really click).

edit: also Nadja's latest album Flipper.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I really loved the last album, so I'm anticipating a good build on that!

Diggin the new Queens album, didn't know there was a new torche, I'll have to check it out. New strokes is a little different but has a few gems. Looking forward to the NIN and Arctic monkeys coming out soon.
