Light speaker suggestions for 1x12 combo - Neodymium?

Post by AngryGoldfish »

So I'm having Nick from Dunwich amps build me a combo very soon. It's a single channel amp with elements of Marshall, Fender, and Orange using a pair of EL84's running at around 15-18 watts, enough gain for heavier styles and clean enough to take pedals at lower volume. The amp is designed around the concept of being portable and lightweight as I'm tired of lugging around my Fryette Memphis and turning it down for shows and performances. The cabinet will be made from pine to relieve weight and the dimensions will be around the same size as a Carr Rambler, again to relieve weight. But the problem I've encountered is speakers. Most speakers are a little heavy. Are there are suggestions for speakers that aren't quite as heavy, specifically Neodymium, ideal for a variety of playing styles—including heavy metal—in a low wattage combo?
