Yes! This is one of 2 of the pedals I've owned the longest on my pedalboard. I love the Boomerang III. I also had the Sidecar pedal to go with it for awhile and that is a killer add-on to the Rang III but I needed the cash so I let it go.Eric! wrote:

Re: Looking for a looper...need some guidance/insight
The dd7 has been my main looper for years. It's fine for simple looping, but the lack of recall has become an issue for me. It also can't do any different loop endings like you mentioned wanting. I (and others) have tried modding it so the volume pot was controlled by the expression out, but the pedal won't do that...rustywire wrote: Can you [or anyone] chime in on the looping function of the DD-7?
It does have 40 seconds of loop, which is awesome.
I think the rc20xl looks awesome and would trade my dd7 out for one in an instant.

Re: Looking for a looper...need some guidance/insight
Hi guys, I have a Timeline and I'm also trying to dive in the whole looping thing myself but I don't have a MIDI controller at hand, could someone tell me whether the trick to hit half speed before recording to make it go double speed when you hit the half speed button again works with it and whether it will go an octave up then?
Also, is it possible to sync the looper with a signal coming from Ableton or a BPM thingy or something like that?
I was looking into the Pigtronix Infinity again but it seems it doesn't do these half time / double time tricks, which is quite a bummer I think.
Also the Boomerang III seems to do octave down on the half speed setting so I don't know whether it will do an octave up if you trick it into double time like I described above.
Basically what I'm looking for is a looper that will do reverse, half speed (octave down or not), double speed octave up and can sync to Ableton or BPM.
Thanks!

I didn't look into those because they're huge and still don't have direct access to reverse, half speed and everything, which I find a bit silly.
I'm hoping the Timeline will work for me so I don't end up selling it, I'm trying to decide whether it's worthwhile to purchase one of these DMC controllers for it or not, based on whether it can do double speed octave up and Ableton or BPM sync.

Re: Looking for a looper...need some guidance/insight
i have the 2880 as well and stand by it, although it's lacking some features that sometimes i wish i had that the boomerang does. like i wish i could record something in track one that's 1 second long, and then record something in track two that 30 seconds long. (if anyone knows if this is possible, please tell me!!).. fading and "undo" would be cool too.
my advice is that if you do a lot of looping (especially live), drop the cash for a pricy looper like the 2880 or boomerang, because while little loopers are great, if you're playing live sets with loops, you'll find yourself wanting more and probably upgrading eventually anyway.

Re: Looking for a looper...need some guidance/insight
Am on week 2 with the Infinity.
I've barely begun to scratch the surface and have been focusing on getting some simple ideas down, to satisfaction.
I'm still out of my comfort zone and there's a learning curve but it hasn't been a struggle.
Once I get more of a feel for things I'll really explore its features in depth.
During this honeymoon period the word "disappoint" has not been in my vocabulary.
It would seem I made the right choice.
That said, due to the amount of fun I'm having with the Infinity, I see myself eventually acquiring a 'rang, as well, and using them together for some real options and experimentation.
I'm thinking they will be excellent supplements to each other.

The Boss ones have all of the features you want.Tristan wrote:I didn't look into those because they're huge and still don't have direct access to reverse, half speed and everything, which I find a bit silly.

I see what you mean, that list is a bit old though, it also says the Infinity can't do reverse while it can with the new update (I didn't know that before either).
It's also wrong about the Boomerang III not being able to sync to Ableton or BPM I think but I'm not sure.

Yes, it does those things...stripes wrote:i have the 2880
Hey stryper, if you record the first loop with no sound for like a minute you can then switch to tracks 2, 3, or 4 and record your one second loop then go to another track for the other stuff... Make sense???

There is a boomerang III, 2880 and an infinity at guitar center used. I'd buy them if i wanted a fancy looper

Just to chime in again, i've been really exploring the depths of what the 'Rang III can do and it makes me want to say, yet again - get a 'Rang.

Re: Looking for a looper...need some guidance/insight
I love botique hand made companies, however after owning the lflj myself and needing larger loops I did a lot of research. I don't own a single boss pedal, however I bought the boss rc300. It's fucking giant. The size of a pedal board. But it's an instrument in itself. I had to do a lot a lot of review searching cause of my boss aversion (I wanted a boomerang originally) but after reading a lot I figured I'd be doing myself a disservice not to try the rc300 because the features were fucking killer. 5 months later, wow. Just wow. This thing is amazing and I love it. A little more pricer than the others but I couldn't be happier with the results. The quantizer is super smart too, only loop pedal I use with drummers that has no loss of translation (ex.the non expiernecd drummers get it and jam smooth)
