There isn't really any acknowledgement... Aside from the Discovered Promo CD and even on there it says Daft Funk instead of Punk and I don't know if it's official.

The Nirvana song you mean is Come as You Are, and the bass line is lifted from a Killing Joke song. I remember hearing that it was settled with minimum press for obvious reasons.

It's such a basic riff it's kind of silly really, and the "bounce" and tempo of the riff are different so I'd consider them seperate but similar riffs. You have to do that, or you'd go mad.
