I like world politics and news in general, and while the majority of Australians might be xenophobic racists, those of that aren't enjoy intelligent political satire. A lot of Australians travel and do the ex-pat thing, too, so we generally have an interest in what's going on.
Also, have you seen the state of Australian politics lately? It's a fucking joke. If you wanna have a giggle, just check what happened to our prime-minister(s) this last week.
