A 2x12 cab needs new speakers for stoner riffs
Hello fuzzers and muffers , I play stoner Kyuss kind in C tuning with a SuperBAss clone Head with Russian Big Muff and 2x12 ENGL pro cab ...
I don't like how v30s work and I'm going to replace them with 2 1218 Legend or 2 V128 Legend or 2 Toneker ... but i Need your support.
Any suggestion?

I like using bass speakers. More specifically Delta Pro 12a's, which can be used for both guitar and bass and have a SOLID low end

The problem is in the crispy responce and the lack of mid -low attack ... my Genz Benz 2x12 works even better but as construction ENgl seems better , so I started to think about replace V30 with speaker with less break-up, more wattage and fuller bass responce ... ( I hate them in My old 4x12 Marshall 1960 ...).
As guitar I use a Vintage vs6

A lot of people like the weber 65 or warehouse guitar speaker et65 for that kind of music. I have also used eminence tonkers which sound good and supposed to be like old fanes. The eminence swamp thangs are similar to the tonkers but a bit darker.

I have these. They def cop the deftones vibe with a low down but hi fidelity sound. I think i might need to upgrade to something higher wattage though.

What's your SuperBass clone like? I love SuperBasses but haven't found any clones that i dig.
Emperor recommended me Weber Thames, and i would say the same. They handle the bass differently, more throaty and less saggy.

Did you run out of headroom? I was hoping the Swamp Thang would be my end all for 150watts

Not really. My amp is 300 watts though and it sounds like it may be....pushing the speakers a little hard. They sound like they kindof give up on certain frequencies. I dont know if its just that i havent broken them in though. These are def not recommended for occasional bass solos either.

Damn, you're running my ideal setup right there. Played a Jazzmaster with a Meat Smoke through an orange cab loaded with V30s and it called over the neighbors after three chords. Think i need it in my life permanently. Are you always playing bass through the meatsmoke and the 2x12? That's one of the few heads i can think that would overload big speakers.

No i only play bass when im practicing my tool
....
....
You should get the meatsmoke. Just dont spring for the 100 watt switch. Its not that it sucks but when youve heard the smoke at 300 watts its just like....why would i want to use 100?
