Broken Catalinbread Pareidolia- Help?

Post by 9520575 »

Hello,
Maybe you could help me out,
I have a Catalinbread Pareidolia: harmonic tremolo pedal that does not seem to be working.
The issue: The volume is extremely low, even as the volume pot is fully clockwise.
I have triple checked the power supply and chords, everything works with all of my other pedals.
The pedal does bypass normally.
I was powering it on onespot, along with numerous other pedals. No other pedals have any issues.
This is the second time this has happened to my pareidolia!
The first time, I sent it back, Catalinbread repaired it.

I have contacted Catalinbread again. They said, we gave you a new pedal last time, meaning they don't know what happened, I guess??
And that I should make sure all my power supplies and cables are working. Which, they are...
So Catalinbread is not helping out with the issue, maybe someone here can figure something I'm doing wrong, that keeps killing this pedal...

My hope is to fix it then sell it, because dying twice is once too many for me. Its a cool pedal, but this is very aggravating. Catalinbread just keeps asking if I'm sure my cables work. I'm not sure how many times they want me to answer that question. Should I e-mail them every hour, saying oh, I checked again, cables are still working? They aren't helping me.

Here is a little video to demonstrate A.) the issue B.) all cable and power supplies are in working order.

I should note that I never tried to power the Pareidolia with any other power supply, only the onespot and the single boss wallwart. There is has been no monkey business on my end.

**I posted it on The Gear Page as well, I know C-Bread posts there a bit... maybe they'll be more useful if I complain louder??

At least they gave you a new pedal initially. I had a faulty Echorec followed by a broken DLS and Cbread basically told me to get fucked. Oh, and then they blamed my power supply, a CIOKS DC10 that's never had a single issue. Then they simply ignored my emails.

Thank god for PGS and their quality customer service, helped right the wrongs in the end. Those two pedals are both fantastic (when fully functional) but not good enough to make me deal with Cbread ever again.

i try and understand where a company is coming from
and i'm sure there have been people who try and pull a fast one
or they ended up treating their equipment like shit
but if you post straight up evidence of the device not working
and you're willing to work with them
there shouldn't be a reason for catalinbread or any other company to tell you to get bent.

Yeah, i run a little chocolate factory, i know there are always scammers out there. They suck and really hurt small business.
They had this pedal in hand. I would think, if i fried it they would have seen it. Never got a report back as to what went wrong, nor was i advised to power the pedal differently. They just replaced pedal sent it back out.

Breaks again, they say this the only time it has ever happened.

ugh, finally got through to c-bread. I had to call nick over there and talk to him. He was still saying I probably plugged it into an AC by mistake.
It was pretty annoying I had to talk to over the phone and make a thread about it on TGP. He finally agreed that it didn't sound like a power issue, or that I had zapped it.
So, I'm getting a replacement, again.

which still doesn't solve whatever is happening...

man...

So, watch the spam thread for a brand new pareidolia, I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit around for lightening to strike twice.

I'm not sure who got mine but I had one of the Purple ones (duh) for awhile and it was always quiet and needed a boost before or fuzz after... Hope the 3rd one works out...

Sorry about that. I have to say once i posted this on tgp, nick from cbread gave me his number, i called him and talked him about the problems i was having. He said he would send me a replacement and have a look at mine. i got the replacement but never heard back from them. Oh well, I'm over it. I got the impression nick just didn't believe i had used just a onespot. I'm not about to ditch the onespot because of that pedal. I sold the new replacement cbread, and have been living happily with that same "defective" onespot. I dont think cbread and company are getting back to me about what happened.
I still loved the pereidolia and recommend it, but for me and my setup. Something was malfunctioning.

and to think i just put a cbread sticker on my guitar and decided the dls2 was one of my favorite pedals. FUCK.

that really sucks you had to go through all that man, any time i get dicked around by companies like that i generally get really fucking pissed. good job keeping your cool far better than i would

i dont build pedals but it seems pretty obvious that particular model has an issue with power supplies...duh :picard:

Maybe an issue with the 78L09 regulator?
