i think my new eventide space is a dud out of the box

Post by penusanis »

the left footswitch seems to be defective. i can't get an active signal (led won't turn on either). i've done a hard reset on the unit, tried different cables and everything else i can think of, but i'm only hearing the bypassed signal. everything else lights up and appears to be working fine.

i did a fair amount of poking around online, and i can't find anyone else with a similar issue. wondering if anyone's experienced this. it seems like it has to be a hardware defect. if so, pretty annoying to think the only pedal i've bought that was a dud out of the box was hands down the most expensive. as of now i'm waiting on prymaxe to confirm an exchange, but if you have a quick fix, i'd love to hear it!

Bummer, dude.

If you don't mind me asking, how did Prymaxe ship it? There was a thread earlier with some horror stories about how they skimp on properly packaging things to save on postage.
good deals are here.

they put the space box in a clear plastic bag and in the relatively-same-size shipping box with no bubble wrap or packaging insulation whatsoever. i figured it would probably be ok since the pedal itself is packaged pretty nicely inside its own box, but yeah, pretty big smashed box corner... i think this will be my last fling with prymaxe.

Pedal is what, basically 500 bucks?
They can't add in some fucking bubble wrap?

At least Prymaxe didn't ship in a padded bag.

I had a Space last year, well packed even, that arrived defective as well. The dealer had no more in stock so Eventide replaced it no problemo.

is this a common thing with eventide stuff? kind of a bummer for the price tag. now i'm paranoid my new one's gonna break on me.

Prymaxe should hook you up. FWIW, I got a Pitchfactor secondhand and the bypass switch was lousy - would sometimes turn off, sometimes not, or do a double ON OFF really fast. It lagged really bad too. I replaced all 3 switches with momentary self contained ones and haven't had a problem. I've heard of people doing this and having problems with their switches, but it's few and far between and DDDDAAAAMMMMNNN for the price tag they better work for life.

that sucks. I have owned four factor pedals(timefactor twice) including the space and never had any complaints about the quality of their stuff. Seemed quite a bit more sturdy then my Strymon stuff.
