Update: Often, when I plug in the guitar and first start playing, I get some sound then it fades off quickly. When i squeeze the circuit where the IC is, I get the buffered sound I desire. Help?

Update 2: Got it to work, by putting a binder clip on the IC (?). Works well, but when I do volume swells with my ernie ball jr passive volume pedal I get scratchy noises? grounding issue? help?

bad solder join? Try reflowing the areas that are affected by squeezing?

short inside the ic or you are becoming the ground when you touch it? I dunno man, I may not be that helpful, I know how frustrating that can be though.

There are a few different vero layouts for the Klon buffer floating around, one using a TL071 (single op-amp) and one using a TL072 (dual op amp). It looks like you have the single op amp layout with a dual op amp (TL072). That's why izz buzted yo.

Google the dual op amp vero layout, and maaayyybe you can rewire it to work... but, it might have different trace cuts, jumpers etc and not be worth it to try and resurrect it. Or, if you have the TL071 (or any other single op amp) lying around, pop out the TL072 and put the TL071 in. Check to make sure the electro caps aren't fried first.

TweedBassman was spot on! I fixed it this morning. Like at 3 in the morning after going to bed frustrated, I woke up and realized what my huge mistake haha. I rewired it for the tl072 layout and since some of my IC's legs were amputated, I managed to pick up a replacement ic in the morning from an electronics resourcing warehouse. Installed it this morning, and it works marvelously! :)
Thanks guys, and I apologize for being the noobest of noobs. :picard:
haha this stuff is still very new to me :)
