HOG2 vs POG2? mission completed
Hello, I need a polyphonic octaver ambient pedal. The hog seems cooler, It can do whammy stuff, synth filters, 4 octaves up (i hate harmony things), volume swells. I need a pedal for autoswells and octave up things, detune in the pog2 seems cool, but actually have sea machine and polytope, I'm ok with chorus\detune stuff. I'm not interessed in organ emulation. What do you advice? The difference is about 100 euros, and the hog2 is like having plus pedals in one. What is better for autoswells?
Thank you
Thank you

I don't know, I don't like the way the HOG's or POG's sound, too much organ like for my tastes, the Whammy 5 is much purer / synthlike sounding to my ears.

Re: HOG2 vs POG2?
Hey, I would go for the HOG, POGs always felt more aimed towards the organ sounds whereas HOG can do A LOT more
for the record: i've only tried the first POG and HOG... the second POG would be better for me due to the settable attack of the octaves, but i got way more very different sounds from the HOG

Re: HOG2 vs POG2?
Can the hog/hog2 do good volume swells and "bowed" guitar sound? I don't like whammy so much, i Hate harmonies, I tried it at the shop, I only use the 1 and 2 octave up bending (mono and chords), but I think the 5th gen has the best and cleanest tracking heard on a similar pedal, but I need a pedal for autoswells, 12/18 strings guitar, and 12th/24th fret capo emulation. And obviously for pure noise and synthy pad sound. Pog2 and hog 1 and 2 are really different beast, but I found a very organ and digital crush artifact in the upper octaves, the don't sound like a guitar, but like an IRON LUNG.

Re: HOG2 vs POG2?
If i remember correctly, you can set the attack of the tones, yes
that's what they use for the cello sounds in the demos for example... not sure how slow it can go

Re: HOG2 vs POG2?
I never liked the sound of my HOG, too cheesy and thin, also reminiscent of a church organ. The exp modes were def cool though and the added preset feature on the HOG2 is key cuz that original preset footswitch was HUGE!
The POG was a darker, more ominous tone, say like the organ you'd hear in a haunted mansion. The POG EQ filter is pretty nice too. The POG2 still sounds better than the HOG to me but nowhere as cool as the original.

Re: HOG2 vs POG2?
Seriously I don't like the metal sounding of the original pog, the detuned octaves are one of the greatest human invenction, and the filtrer is one of the coolest ever Made, but I really don't like the sound of the octaves. The lack of an attack slider it's a big issue for me, I don't mind the presets. I just need a pedal for upper octaves shifting and cut the pick attack, to be placed before reverse delay for psychedelic reverse synthy leads. Maybe I need a pedal for a 12/18 strings guitar emulation . Sorry for the shitty english, i Hate my iphone

Re: HOG2 vs POG2?
Agreed on the attack slider part, one of my favorite features on the POG2. I could do without presets too on a POG but they're pretty necessary with a HOG.
Another thing I prefer about the original POG is the 18V power. It's a pain in the ass but I ran it successfully on both a PP2+ and CIOKS DC10 and it's so much louder and burlier. The 9V power crippled that aspect, POG2 just can't match that sound in my experience.

Re: HOG2 vs POG2?
if your look in for a 1or 2oct bend
the ps 6 does it well
and in a small package
and itll take expression
and the detune sounds sick
ive a/b'd it with the 5
and its much much better if youve tried that
sorry to add another option to the mix
just ignore me if im out of line

Maybe I found for a reasonable price a ps-3
PS: for detuning madness I already have a polytope.
Maybe I found a like new used POG for 280 euros, a new HOG + foot controller and expression for 330 euros, HOG2 (without preset) for 400 euros (and other 100 fucking bucks for the preset switch), and the POG2 for the common price of 280 euros (I found one used for 200 shitty money, but the guy desappered... bastard).
My big question is: it's possible for the humanrace hear 4 octaves up? I think the octaves in the HOG sounds like a SNES era midi guitar song, but I found some interesting demoes with cello sounds... Maybe HOG + Polytope will be a good choice for creepy organ and synthy sounds, maybe a good pair will be POG2 + Whammy 5 + a good filter (how I miss my Xerograph deluxe, this shit + bottleneck = ghost female voice weeping
)A want to add another option:
But, a Roland Gaia? I'm a shitty "DIY" key and piano player (ofcourse my grandaunt is a legendary piano teacher, but I never pick a lesson from her...
) The ultimate Ilovefuzz question: Is it cooler obtain synthy - strings - organ- pad - flute - etc. sounds with a guitar and endless chains of pedals (my way), or showing at the entire world that you have a cheap va synth?

Re: HOG2 vs POG2?
Honestly chances are if a HOG can't get the synth tone you're after with guitar you might as well just use an actual synth

I dunno, i really don't like the disco sounds on the actually synths, I'm more oriented in Pink Floyd and Tangerine Dream territory... nah
The only reason in my life is obtaining the strangest guitar sounds possibles.

Ah, I see what you mean, for those Tangerine Dream type leads the best combo I had so far is the Philosopher King into the Whammy 5 on octave up into a drive, I'm still rocking that.

I tend to gravitate towards the idea of using guitar as an instrument instead of a guitar
you know... the typical perception of guitarso I'm good with making guitar sound not like a guitar of any sorts on purpose
I remember finding a sound that really sounded kind of like a flute
