I just played with Loma Prieta, they are really dull live in my opinion but I'm kinda over the scene, so my opinion is shite. I did see Daughters with the Locust and Cattle Decapatation in DC way before the self-titled so it was all Canada and Hell. They definitely had a lot of exchanges with the crowd, who did love them, but said the dumb shit people say and going city-to-city, people probably say the same shit.

Lex kept saying, "Say something clever" They did a great job and I think the s/t was an awesome album...a little over-compressed, but I did enjoy the direction they took it. I really wanna see them play it, but no way I'll make it. I don't think they'll do anything after this, they broke up because of the last album, from what I've read. Creative differences.

Like Aids Wolf and Arab on Radar though, you sometimes must call it a day and try something different. Even if it's the same basic thing.

That's the same tour I saw 'em on, had to drive to fucking Omaha for that show but so worth it. Lex's behavior mirrored your description and Daughters just killed it, sound was amazing.

As to why they broke up, it's a pretty strange sequence of events. Here's an older interview with Nicholas Sadler shortly after it happened where he details the events that took place. He also discusses the making of the s/t and everything surrounding the band at the time, good read. He wrongly predicts that he'll never play with Daughters again.
