Re: What effects/circuits are you tired of?
I'm not really tired of any effect. I even like muffs, because they do what they do well. That being said, I don't particularly get along with certain effects. Bit crushers, ring mods, compressors, wahs, super fuzzes. Those things bore me to death. A bit crusher sounds like fucking shit to me. I know it can sound cool, but I play the bass. I want low end retention. I don't want my bass sounding like something other than, well a bass.
I've become very picky with my effects lately. I'm getting tired of trying to constantly find something that works.

Re: What effects/circuits are you tired of?
sometimes. i started out as a clean player in the Garcia/Don Rich/Stephen Stills mode with no pedals at all other than my Distortion+ and was equally into The Edge (Effects Boy) and Richard Thompson (turn up the Fender Deluxe) in the 80s, so i can happily tootle around all afternoon with nothing but amplifier reverb (or more recently the Ghost Echo) and Fender amp tremolo. and i never use an amplified acoustic...mic in front of the soundhole, please. but for the looping stuff i find that a boatload of pedals is essential for contrast and texture. it's the difference between art pencils/pens and a box of paints.

Sure, on occasion it's go straight in and not care. On occasion it's fire up 15 things at once.
All things for all seasons and needs.
If I go that route, it's with amp reverb and and a Fender 6L6-based amp at that point, though. 12", clean.
I can do the Jazz Chorus with it too (usually set on vibrato) and be much happier.

There are plenty of times when I just play bass -> mini -> amp, which is basically me plugging straight in as I leave the mini on 99% of the time. Can't afford no stinkin' tube head.

Re: What effects/circuits are you tired of?
I've learned simplicity is key when it comes to pedals, honestly if I want some cool textures, sounds, and movement, I just bring out the synths and let my guitar be a guitar for the most part. I'm constantly downgrading my pedal board before it was filled to the brim with some rad boutique stuff but now I have 6 cheap pedals, I'm still trying to remove more.
That being said I'm probably tired of transparent drives, seriously most people that use them are using low wattage amps, why not just crank the thing a little harder and get a real mans boost.

I've been playing either huge boards or no pedals recently. Totally different from each other and I totally love both

I actually play clean a lot. Use the natural OD of my amp. That's really the only thing I've been digging on lately. I love fucking fuzz too though, but I find myself just noodling when I have too many effects. Hahaha...God damn it.

Tired of narrow horizon players claiming to "do all" w/no fx
Bass > cable > amp is awesome.
Guitar > cable > amp is boring.
My amps lack onboard reverb or trem and only have 3 knobs each (volume, treble, bass).
Current guitar board has 2 fuzz, 2 delay, 2 phaser, reverb, trem, parametric eq for midrange.
One doesn't have to use effects intensely with everything set at max.
In fact, I've found some of the best settings are subtle to the point you can barely tell they're there.
It's how you use what you have more than what you have, itself.
Once you've stacked Russian Muff into DMM, "playing pure" on a non-master amp with no fx seems underwhelming.
And the "transparent" obsession is extra silly to me...

Re: What effects/circuits are you tired of?
It's not about being the most transparent or using the least amount of effects possible. I believe in the use it or loose it motto, if it's much too subtle or never gets turned on. It's out the door for me. I have 3 dirts and only one or two ever on the board, a phaser, and a PS-2 and a DD-5. Honestly the pitch shifter is probably going to move onto a synth specific board because I don't find myself using the cheese-tastic space sounds on guitar.
Although again, I'm in the boat that if ya want weird sounds learn to play a snyth and tap on the guitar at the same time. Only thing I think I would want on my board is like two loopers or so.

Use it or lose it is a good mantra.
Same with Use what sounds good to you.
And I also want a looper, the Infinity...

Re: What effects/circuits are you tired of?
Glad this thread is doing well. Thanks for the thoughts fellows! A lot of them are as I expected, haha.
Yea, I'd like to eventually go that route somewhat, and have plans to include those in a couple circuits. We'll see how it goes.
Already in the works!
I got your back dudes
I hear you and have plans for one or two pedals with them. Thing about sliders is getting those cuts right. More difficult than drilling holes, at least with the equipment I have at home.
I too am a FFace guy, though I currently don't own one. Have a circuit in the works that is definitely a FF at heart, but I don't think many would say, "thats a FF," at first.
There's something I have in mind that kind of uses a little bit of all that...but it's going to be a WHILE before it sees the light of day.
As far as chorus, I'd never touch it, don't think there's anything I could add. Our man Ryan has already created the end all for that! (see Cosmichorus)
Flange and Vibrato are things I would like to tackle however. Again, these are a ways off, as I'm not just going to slap something together.
...and for JWAR; none of the stuff I currently have pretty much finalized is for bass. Useable with bass, yes, but not made for bass. This is because, like you, I think I have a very specific want. Just haven't been able to make something I'm happy enough with...YET.

And like dubkitty said, I'd rather hear something really different with a delay other than it does "modulation"
I think delays like the pitch pirate, particle and even the SMMH tackle unique sounds that should be prodded further.
