Would the speaker cones hold up to bass freqs at louder volumes? I heard that it's easy to damage them cuz of the excessive movement, but I don't know firsthand. I'm curious about this too cuz I don't have a bass amp right now but I do have an AC15. I was also wondering about drum machines thru guitar amps

it's not the cones that are problematic, it's the voice coils, which get shaken to death.

I think mccartney used to use one live on their early records or something?

I think this is mostly a phenomena of British (Bassman-derived) amps

Selmer Bassmaster/Treble N Bass/Zodiac/Thunderbird
Marshall JTM45 & 50 Bluesbreakers/JMP Plexis/JCM800

McCartney had a Selmer Thunderbird Thirty (maybe it was a Fifty) in the mid 60s...like 64-66 I think...
