I think it looks like a pretty sweet synth for someone who:
-knows a lot about synthesis
-is never going to try and program it without a computer

If you can accept those two things, it looks like it's be a pretty cool synth. I've thought about trading my blofeld in and getting one of these. It looks like a fun performance oriented synth, and I usually do all my programming seperate from my actual music making. So something like this might be pretty coo.

If you're just starting out with synthesis this would probably be horribly frustrating to use, and you'd be better served getting one of the new analog synths that are coming out. Like the ms-20 by Korg.

I say AWESOME... You can program it without a Computer and I don't think and Encyclopedic knowledge of Synthesis is needed... If it's got the sounds and features you want GO FOR IT!!! It's a great company that doesn't skimp on their gear, I'm sure there's stuff in there for years of playing not to mention future upgrades...

So I got to play around with one of these today and it is awesome. The interface was a lot easier to deal with than I expected, and the controls were hella fun. Yeah, if you're thinking about getting a performance based synth, as opposed to a learning synth, this is the shit; and I want one. One thing I thought was silly was a whole bank of settings dedicated to dubstep

Bottom line: if you're thinking about getting a microkorg or any other small budget-minded synth, buy the mininova. It's super fun and gets the Willy seal of approval :thumb:

I love my Mininova. Its technically not my first synth, but i did return the Microkorg i originally bought for it when i started to realize that I wanted more control and more presets. Also its cool to note that aside from making your own sounds, Novation uploads a bunch of sound packs to their site, and the ones designed for the Ultranova can be save on to the mini. :!!!: Oh and I've used it to control VSTs in Ableton too :thumb:

The only thing that i really preferred on the microkorg was the feel of the keys, the mininovas aren't bad, just not as good :idk:
