Alright..I've been wanting to say something like this for quite awhile now, and this is my excuse to do it so here goes. :joy:

I'm pretty new here, but from the moment I signed up and started reading the posts, I noticed something. There didn't seem to be any kind of adverse stuff going on. "Hmm," I thought to myself, "That's pretty odd." (This is the internet after all :poke: ) As I kept reading, I noticed the same trend: Helpful people helping other people who are helpful to OTHER people, encouraging each other and generally going out of their way to be nice. You guys have created a nice, stable community around something that we all love, and that's pretty rare these days. (Again, this is the internet.) A few days after I joined here, I joined Harmony-Central, and I mostly hang out in the effects forum. For the most part, everyone seems to be nice over there, too, with a few exceptions. I did notice, however, that when someone starts arguing, everyone picks a side and it develops into a massive war, with no end in immediate sight. I'm not saying ILF is better or worse thatn HCFX over all, (personally I do like it better, but that's my opinion ;) ) but I generally find this place to be a lot nicer.

ILF is a very tight-knit community, which causes me to worry. If we were to all start hating each other, then I feel like the board would split into two factions, and one opinion or the other would be completely pushed off the boards, with whoever left being very hostile and unwilling to accept newcomers as easily.

I guess my point is that everybody needs to relax. You guys have put together one of the nicest places on the internet to come talk about music, and I really don't want to see that go away. I hope that ILF continues to grow and stay in it's present, happy-go-lucky state. :) You guys are awesome, fuzzy, and encouraging to me and everyone else that comes here. :hobbes: Also, you guys have a Hobbes emote. That's fucking awesome.

I'm not trying to stir up anything, or force my opinion on everybody, I'm just saying what's on my mind. :idk:

tl;dr: You guys are cool, I like you, don't turn this place into an evil pit of hate. :thumb:

You hit the nail on the head. I come here because its one of the two gear fora I know where people are actually nice to each other, while also teaching each other things (the other being Talkbass FX). I've been a member of HCFX for about 3 years now, and I find it an awful fucking rotten cesspool. There hasn't been a good substantive gear thread there where I've actually learned something in a year, easily. That is why when someone stirs the pot here, I react badly.

And my previous apology was to the board, not to Silius. I still don't feel I owe Silius any apology personally. Im just sorry I was a party to one of hte few drama threads we've had.

Led Dirgible FTW!

This place is like the Beatles of internet music fora. (Dis)Harmony Central is more like... Aaron Neville.
Dude, a ball pit is not... weren't you ever a little kid? Ya know, a ball pit, with the plastic balls and you'd jump in it... it's not a gay bar!

Told you guys.

Don't worry though there Chief. Though I called you nothing nor said nothing to you nor posted nothing about you, your personally unprovoked use of the terms "fucking asshole" and "we love and respect our own" was indicative of the quietude of this board concerning the postings of a troll.

You rock on in your own "cool" way...

Actually the kumbaya attitude around here gets on my nerves sometimes...there are fights in any family/relationship, it's a healthy thing.
But that doesn't mean we need to be at each other's throats with personal attacks...those are always ugly, and unnecessary. Some people can't seem to seperate a disagreement from an attack.

Ok, my bad on the bcbc apology thing.

Just end the fucking argument people. Stop saying backhanded shit. I could care less whether you love each other, just don't post the hate, because as you can see we all focus on it and it becomes a huge deal.

I think this should just be closed again. Too many people are acting like middle-schoolers. :idk:

I kind of agree. Forcing people to get along can work well in the short term or on the surface, but it's artificial so it doesn't work in the long run for building real relationships, it's one of the reason the internet has become such a shallow medium.

In reality, I'd love to see all the singers here in real life giving it the "I love you" BS every day to each other. Wouldn't be very long before the utopian ideas were done with.

It's very easy to hide behind a made up name on an internet forum where the only contact is some messaging back and forth. Especially with so many of those here that are in college and haven't really lived outside of that college bubble... :excellent:

Wow - I didn't realise I was being artificially being forced to get along and to have a shallow, kumbaya attitude. Fuck ILF! :picard:

I know that the Utopian ideal is a stupid thing to wish for. Hell, I've already read and analyzed the damn book, and it doesn't take a genius to get that "utopia" means "no place." The point is, fights happen. I get it. I've had my fair share of them and probably have some larger anger issues from things I'm not going to go in with. Anger may be "healthy," but so is happiness. It'd be nice if we could all "get along," and by that I mean not go after each other all the time for little things. I mean, you may dislike or even hate HCFX, but that doesn't give you the right to try to crush them for being "different." It's all meaningless anyways.

By the way, I take the college bubble comment quite personally. So if you want to say that I'm sheltered and whatnot, fine. It may be true, but I have had my own fair share of "real life" shit as well. Not the same as yours, but still important to me.

Still, I hold all of you guys and gals with respect. You may not even care, but that's okay. This is a community. Let's keep it that way.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?
