Re: Acid Age Electronics replaces Earthbound Audio
I'm into this. The mkII Supercollider I have is the only booteek pedal I bought new. It has been on my pedalboard ever since and I love it so much.
I've been in the market for a Rat and it's a toss up between the one on CL for $40 (it appears to be a slant enclosure) or this here Acid Pig.
I like that Mark is keeping to his aesthetic.

Agreed! The mkII Supercollider is titz. I actually have a Beast (added oscillation footswitches) and I'll never let it go. Also like his aesthetic and it's good to see it retained here with Acid Age.
As for the Bee Baa circuit, I had no clue Mark was working on one, I'm sure it will kick ass! Def not enough out there in terms of Bee Baa clones/variants. I currently have LaoWiz building one for me tho...

I'm savvy to the beast. The SC and SCBeast were a bit Flava o'da month back in 07/08 (at least they were over on TBFX),...but I fell so head over heals for the thing that It just stuck and has never left mah board. I initially got it cause it was active friendly (as a result of being an UberMuff) and retained dat lowend on bass. When I started playing more guitar, that lowend quality really had me sprung.
I don't see a whole lot of SCs on people's pedalboards so I do feel like there is a bit of exclusivity with it, but that's just a perception and not really that important to me. What is important. It sounds amazing.

Def holds the lows intact. I'll hit my Dwarvenaut with it, amp already has lotsa gain so I expected overkill or messy blocking distortion/fuzz but not the case. The Beast brings the heaviness with most any combo of guitar/pickup/amp, retains clarity and bite, just a very aptly named pedal. It crushed the Musket I had prior, no contest.

I'll buy one used maybe. Never tried a Rat that I know of.

Haha, that happened to me with the Iron Pig. Wasn't digging the orange/black but then Mark offered me a green/black and it was on. I love that pedal though, wasn't sure what RAT I was after so figured may as well get 'em all in one box.

I hadn't either until the Iron Pig but if you've tried/owned an Elements, you've heard many of the same tones. That's not to say the Elements is a RAT per se, just that it covers some of the best RAT tones I've ever heard.

I actually wish I still had a TB account/bothered to make a TGP account for this reason. I snagged my Supercollider for less than half of what they go for now 'cause of the Flavor of the Month phenomenon, and it's been one of my favorite Big Muffs for shit, like six years now?

I know whatcha mean but the dude makes cool shit.
So much this.
Also, if I was going to be cynical, I'd probably say that Mark has realized that "doom" is out and now "heavy psychedelic" is in, and adjusted his brand accordingly.

Haha, that actually makes perfect sense. Sometimes your cynical side is so goddamned logical that I can hardly believe I didn't realize it on my own. Truth.

I find it astonishing that so many of you dudes go so long without trying Rats. I've owned eight in the past year and a half.
