Thats one of the big problems with kickstarter right now. There is nothing to "protect" the backers if the project fails, goes defunct, the guy running the project disappears etc. And there is no way to get a refund if the project doesn't deliver what was originally promised or on time. It is up to the person running the project on whether they will give back money or not. There have been a couple high profile projects that brought some of these things to light. Of course I can't remember off the top of my head but some things I do remember are the Feminist Frequency project that took over a year to deliver its first video after raising a crapload of money to basically buy video games. I think the Amanda Palmer one caused some issues too when she was describing her costs and what she quoted to make cds and vinyls were extremely high per unit.Muse FTW wrote:So if they don't finish/deliver the product, all the money is returned, right?
It was a pretty ambitious idea from the get-go, and honestly I'd love to see it get done, but considering the people involved I wouldn't be surprised if this never gets finished - just like I thought when the Kickstarter first went up.

Not trying to throw any more shit into the mix but this is basically Devi's idea with Ken doing all the legwork? Haven't really seen her post many new things/updates about her pedal business outside of selling rights to build her stuff. She mainly posts about video game stuff she's making nowadays.

Re: Whatever happened to the devi ever Console thing?
The one thing I can say about Devi is that I can always depend on having at least five pages of fresh material to read whenever her name pops up on here.
I certainly hope the Console sees the light of day by the end of the year, or at least something physical and not just "Oh we're working on it but we're waiting on stuff" posts. Being specific I think helps. I've never done anything like this so I don't know if there's a good reason to be vague like that, but I'm guessing there isn't one.
Sounds interesting I suppose, but I don't have high hopes for it actually succeeding in creating a community of cartridge builders because there have been plenty of open source pedal stuff like this, and it never catches on. And as has been posted on here, there continues to be people with ideas for open source pedals on Kickstarter. I think it sounds cool in theory, but in reality there's just not a lot of support out there.

This is so shocking i passed out.
Has she made a vlog about how you all are just dumb haters who don't know how to run a business?
Meh, i still think the general concept is silly. Why limit myself to three effects in a row? i have no nostalgia about video games. They are a time wasting imagination killer. Why on earth would i want that vibe imposed on my music.

Im pretty sure i hated this idea from the start. I am old enough to have owned atari 2600, nes, snes, neo geo, jaguar, dreamcast, blah blah, honestly i never really got into video games until playstation. I still asked my rents for the systems but it wasnt until MGS and the holy trinity of ps1 final fantasies and of course gran turismo that i was actually pulled into video games. I could give a shit less about sonic or mario or any of that lame retro shit. The console was clearly pandering to people who have an affinity for that kind of stuff.
Preach the fuck on bruh.

Looks like we made Devi "quit the internet" again. She posted some rant on fb about drama ect. Like, I like devi a lot and all and respect her a great deal but let's be honest. She loves cooking up drama and being offended.
